  3.   Part 1, Chapter 1.
  4.   A man called Stephen gets off a train and he is set on 
  5. doing something that he has planned to do for a long time.
  6.   The man is from Africa because he said  that he felt 
  7. homesick.
  8.   Was three days before Christmas.
  9.   Uses words like Drab
  10.   Saw a beautiful girl sitting on the train. She looked out of 
  11. place.
  12.   Part 1, Chapter 2.
  13.   Pilar, the girl narrates.
  14.   She was also set to do something.
  15.   She saw a good looking man in the corridor. He walked in 
  16. to talk to her.
  17.   Gave what both people are thinking while they are talking 
  18. to one another.
  19.   They talked about how much they hated England.
  20.   Pilar came from Spain.
  21.   A war was on at the time.
  22.   She told a story of when her driver was killed by a bomb: 
  23. she did not seem to care! (P5)
  24.   He told her about Africa and a story of when he was a kid.
  25.   Part 1, Chapter 3.
  26.   A bunch of people talking about their father. They talk of 
  27. how much they hate him, and how they want to break their 
  28. chains.
  29.   Lydia had a garden with a number of scenes that she had 
  30. made the garden to look like.
  31.   One of the scenes was the Dead Sea.
  32.   Butler had been at the house for forty years.

  34.   Part 1, Chapter 4.
  35.   Two, David and Hilda, talking about the manÆs mother and 
  36. how she was humiliated by his father with his affairs that he 
  37. boasted about. 
  38.   The mother was not able to devorce because of the times.
  39.    blames his father for his mothersÆ death.
  40.   He had not seen his father since he started college because 
  41. of a dispute between what he wanted to do and what his 
  42. father wanted him to do.
  43.   Part 1, Chapter 5.
  44.   George Lee and his wife are talking about his fatherÆs great 
  45. wealth. ôA millionaire twice over, I believe.ö (George:P17)
  46.   Made his money from mining South African Diamonds.
  47.   GeorgesÆ sister died a year before the time of the book.
  48.   Harry is the brother who went travelling the world, and 
  49. often sent messages to wire him money. He usually got 
  50. money from his father even though he had a huge fight with 
  51. his father before he left because his father wanted him to do 
  52. something with his life.
  53.   Part 1, Chapter 6.
  54.   The old man and Lydia talking about the two mysterious 
  55. people that were supposed to show up the next day.
  56.   The person was Pilar, who is his grandaughter.
  57.   Harry was the other person who was supposed to arrive the 
  58. next day.
  59.   Part 2, Chapter 1.
  60.   Everyone surprised to see Harry Lee
  61.   Throughoutt Book - Reference to fathers appairs with 
  62. other women.
  63.   Harry surprised to find all family there
  64.   George was a member of Parliament
  65.   When Alfred walked in they stared at each other.

  67.   Simeon talking of his regrets of cheating on his wife.

  76. to him in that room when he was a child.

  78.   A man that the Doorman had met a long time ago came to 
  79. the door and gave him a letter for Simeon.
  80.   The doorman could not remember who the man was.
  81.   Part 2, Chapter 5.
  82.   The man turned out to be the son of an old partner of 
  83. Simeons
  84.   The man came from South Africa.
  85.   Part 3, Chapter 1.
  86.   Harry and Simeon talking about the problem of HarrysÆ 
  87. presence there.
  88.   The main problem was AlfredÆs. His brother.
  89.   The old man has a surprise for the rest of the family before 
  90. lunch.  
  91.   Part 3, Chapter 2.
  92.   The family walks into the room and the old man is talking 
  93. on the telephone to a lawyer. He is talking about making up a 
  94. new will after Christmas.
  95.   The old man talks about lowering the allowance of George 
  96. in order to pay for the rising costs of maintaining the house.
  97.   The old man called his dead wife a louse and then said that 
  98. she transmitted it onto her children.
  99.   The children started yelling at their father and he told them 
  100. all to get out.
  101.   The old man later stated that watching his whole family get 
  102. mad under his joke was fun.
  103.   Hilda said that she was afraid for Simeon.
  104.   Part 3, Chapter 3.
  105.   Tressilian, the butler, is the narrator.
  106.   Two of the servants talking and when one said that the 
  107. police had shown up at the house, the Valet dropped his cup 
  108. of tea and started to perspire. He became at ease when he 
  109. found out that it was only to collect for the childrenÆs 
  110. orphanage.
  111.   At dinner all of the family, except for the man from South 
  112. Africa, was quiet. They only talked in spurts.
  113.   David was nervous and knocked over his glass of wine.
  114.   David played the ôDead Marchö on the piano after dinner 
  115. and the butler thought it was strange.
  116.   Above him he heard china crashing and furniture falling 
  117. over.
  118.   Harry and The South African, Mr. Farr, were already there 
  119. after  they ran upstairs to find that the door to the old manÆs 
  120. room was locked.
  121.   There was a ring at the door.
  122.   They broke the door down with a wooden bench.
  123.   Furniture was broken, china shattered. There was 
  124. definitely a struggle in the room.
  125.   Simeon was laying in a pool of blood, the rug beside him 
  126. had caught fire.
  127.   Part 3, Chapter 4.
  128.   The door bell rang again. They opened up the door to find 
  129. the police chief at the door.
  130.   The chief took charge and made everyone leave the room 
  131. and made them not touch anything.
  132.   Pilar picked something up and was reluctant to give it back. She 
  133. played ôDumbö.
  134.   It was a piece of rubber and wood. The Superintendent put them 
  135. into a bag and placed the bag into his pocket.
  136.   Part 3, Chapter 5.
  137.   This chapter starts off with Colonel Johnson and Hercule Poirot 
  138. talking about different poisoning murders and how they used to be 
  139. ôun-Englishö.
  140.   The Colonel said that there was less likely to be murders during 
  141. the Christmas season than any other time of the year.
  142.   The men were talking about Christmas and then the phone rang 
  143. and it was a case of murder. (Ironic)
  144.   The Colonel thought that the old man was not very liked in the 
  145. community.
  146.   But the case will still cause a big stirr.
  147.   The colonel asked Poirot if he would like to come along on the 
  148. case.
  149.   Poirot said that he would only assist the Superintendent and not 
  150. take over the case.
  151.   Part 3, Chapter 6.
  152.   The men were at the house and started to look for clues.
  153.   Poirot was famous in the area for solving a case of nicotine 
  154. poisoning a few years before.
  155.   Mr. LeeÆs throat was slit, jugular vein severed.
  156.   Mr. Lee had phoned the Superintendent earlier in the afternoon 
  157. and told him to go to Mr. LeeÆs house. The old man told the Super. 
  158. that the house had been robbed of many uncut diamonds. The old 
  159. man thought that the diamonds may be a practicle joke played by 
  160. someone in the house. The old man told the Super to return in a 
  161. hour and that the old man would have the case solved. The Super 
  162. returned in an hour and the old man was dead.
