  12. story she writes about many things that happened to
  13. her as a child. In the
  14. story Harper is telling the story in the position scout is
  15. in. Lee is actually
  16. telling The story that she lived as a child. Her real life had
  17. various similarities
  18. to Scouts life. In this essay I will explain the similarities
  19. of Harper LeeÆs
  20. life to Scouts life.  
  21.     As Harper lee was growing up she lived in  a sleepy
  22. town named
  23. Monroeville, Alabama. In this town she grew up hearing crazy stories
  24. and
  25. rumors which the townspeople  would make up. As a child she also heard
  26. a
  27. lot of stories about ghosts, tall tales, and rumors. This reflects in her
  28. story
  29. with all the strange stories about Boo (Arthur) Radley. 
  30.     At seven
  31. years old she started writing and reading. Even before they
  32. had taught her
  33. these skills in school.   She was an intellectual prodigy. She
  34. was bored in
  35. school and was much more intelligent than all the other kids. As
  36. you remember
  37. in the story Scout had learned to read and write way before all
  38. the other
  39. kids and Scout also was bored in school. 
  40.     In real life Harper Lee was a tomboy.
  41. In the story Scot was also a
  42. Tomboy, she hadnÆt even worn a dress until her
  43. first day of school. Also
  44. HarperÆs best friend was here cousin Truman Capote.
  45. Who is basically what
  46. Dill (Charles Baker Harris) was in the book. Harper
  47. was a child who for
  48. some reason used rather adult words when she talked. If
  49. you notice in the
  50. book the vocabulary that Scout is using is complicated for
  51. a child of merely 
  52. eight years old. She was also known to knock  a boy down
  53. and start fighting
  54. with him. In the book Scout fought with a boy in two or
  55. three occasions. 
  56.     As a child Harper Lee and her cousin witnessed a KKK meeting.
  57. For
  58. Harper it was an experience that showed the evil in her community. This
  59. experience
  60. showed up in her book, where such comments like ôNiger Loverö 
  61. were displayed
  62. by the characters in her book.
  63.     In this essay I have displayed examples of
  64. how The book ôTo Kill a
  65. Mockingbirdö compares to Harper LeeÆs own childhood
  66. experiences.  I also
  67. explained where some of the characters in the book  compare
  68. to people in her
  69. real life.
