Menu Maker 64/128 and Menu Entry are elaborate menu utilities for the C-64 and C-128. Menu Maker 64/128 is the menu program that loads a sequential file called "GNF", easily remembered as Good New File. GNF is created by Menu Entry 64/128, not by Menu Maker 64/128.
Menu Maker 64/128 allows the user to select a file to load based on its user-defined description. The Menu Entry program is used to create and edit the GNF file, while Menu Maker is the program that execute files contained in the GNF list. You can't load files from a different device number than that of the device that contains the Menu Maker 64/128 program. Having loaded the Menu Maker program from device 8, you cannot use it to load a program from device 9.
Menu Maker 64/128 in Action
To use the Menu Maker 64/128 program, just select it from either Menu 64 or Menu 128. The program then loads the GNF file created by Menu Entry. It then displays up to 10 selections on the screen at one time. Use the keys 0 through 9 to make your selection. Use Menu Entry to make more enties in the GNF file.
To page forward, press F1 and press F7 to page backwards. This allows the program to display 10 entries per screen. When the program you wish to load is on the screen, select the appropriate number and the program loads and executes.
Once you've spent an evening or two experimenting with the two programs, you'll probably be ready to create your own menus for the Basic programs on your disks. You can give all of your disks a refined look and feel with Menu Maker 64/128!
