If you're a computer hobbyist like me, you try to save money by buying disks in bulk. But formatting them all can be extremely tedious. That's why I wrote Multi-Formatter.
After running the program from either Menu 64 or Menu 128, load a new disk into every drive connected to your computer. Commodore 1541s, 1571s and 1581s are all supported by Multi-Formatter. When you enter the number of active drives, the program will automatically configure any 1571s to 1541 mode. This is done so you can make them "flippy" disks, if desired. Flippies are disks which can be flipped and formatted on both sides.
You can read any drive's directory using the F1 to F7 keys for drives 8 to 11, respectively. Thus you can format on drives 8 and 9 only, but still read directories from drives 8 to 11!
Press the space bar to start the formatting process. After each disk is done, the new directory will appear on the screen, verifying that the formatting is correct. Then press R to Restart the program; the R command puts any 1571s connected to the system back into 1541 mode.
Now you, like me, can watch television while formatting boxes of disks. Just get up during commercial breaks, flip over the 1571 and 1541 disks, restart the program, and hit the space bar to begin formatting again.
