InterLace has arrived and opened a new world for users of GEOS 128. A world with full color support in 80-column mode and a departure from the cold world of black and white. Watch as your screen explodes with the color provided by InterLace's incredible 640x400 interlaced resolution. You'll need a C-128 with 64K of VDC RAM and 128 GEOS in order to use it.
Instructions
First, copy InterLace and all of its related files to a GEOS-formatted work disk. You cannot use InterLace from within the ReRUN interface. This interface, however, will copy InterLace and all its related files to a work disk. After completion of the Copy option from the interface, the following files will appear on your GEOS work disk: LACE.DEMO, LACE, LACE.LNK, LACEGEOPIC, LACEGEOPIC.REL and CONVERTV2.5.
Load and run the CONVERTV2.5 program from Basic as follows:
LOAD "CONVERTV2.5",8
When the program finishes loading, type RUN. It will write a GEOS program to disk that converts the Lace programs to GEOS format. Just double-click the Convert icon and convert LACE.DEMO, LACE, LACE.LNK, LACEGEOPIC and LACEGEOPIC.REL to GEOS format.
After booting GEOS 128 and clicking on the Lace icon in 80-column mode, a dialog box appears with a listing of the GeoPaint pictures on the disk. To view a picture, select the desired file and choose the OPEN button.
InterLace then switches the computer to Interlace Mode and displays the picture. While the picture is being displayed you can move the window with the following keys.
F1 = Move to the top of the picture.
F3 = Move to the middle of the picture
F5 = Move to the bottom of the picture
To stop viewing the picture simply click your mouse button one time. You will then return to the dialog box with the list of GeoPaint files.
To change disks, insert a new disk and then select the DISK button. To change drives, select the DRIVE button and the next drive will be opened. As with GEOS 128 2.0, InterLace supports up to three drives. To exit InterLace, choose the CLOSE button.
Finally, a few words on disk errors. If InterLace encounters a disk error while loading a picture, the loading process is aborted and the partial image remains on the screen. You can then exit normally from the picture. If InterLace encounters a disk error while trying to open a disk, InterLace shuts itself off and returns control to the deskTop.
