At a recent family gathering, my grandmother Charlotte recounted what life was like growing up in the early 1900s. Echo Lake, an original piece of software, allowed me to encapsualte her memories with imported photos, video, and voice recordings in an electronic journal.|CR||CR||CR||B:1|1/5^Echo Lake's interface is a cabin setting filled with the tools I needed to create my personal journal. The best feature, to my mind, was the media drawer. It allowed me to flesh out my story with imported elements like sound and video. Echo Lake also includes a collection of historical video clips and photos you can use to complement your own.|CR||B:1|2/5^Other noteworthy features include the ViewMatic and Inspirator. The ViewMatic, designed to store video and photos for easy access did not prove useful. The Inspirator, however, turned out to be a great tool for jogging my memory. When I clicked the light bulb, it flashed historical headlines and facts that were relevent to my story.|CR||CR||B:1|3/5^Echo Lake brings family history into the digital age. The only imprvement I wished for was the ability to sit back and enjoy the fruits of my labor as a multimedia show.
