  61. INTRODUCTION
  62. ************
  63. Astro-World 2.2 is an Astrological program for Windows 3.1 with print and 
  64. screen evaluations for Radix-, Synastry- and Transit Horoscopes. The printed 
  65. natal chart evaluation consists of about 25 pages. Six different House-
  66. systems are included: Koch, Placidus, Regiomontanus, Campanus, Vehlow, as 
  67. well as Equal-House. Astro-World is capable of the following features:
  68.  
  69. *  Radix-Horoscope, on-screen and printer (25-30 pages)
  70. *  Synastry-Horoscope (about 5 pages)
  71. *  Transit-Horoscope (10-20 pages)
  72. *  An integrated data-base for people and places. Both data-bases
  73.    can be expanded to around 2.1 billion entries.
  74. *  The included database of places has over 2200 localities.
  75.    Additional location databases are available, sorted by country,
  76.    and by state for the USA (a total 150,000 places worldwide).
  77. *  Up to ten Horoscopes can be displayed simultaneously in different
  78.    windows on the screen.
  79. *  Display windows also include a Legend, an Aspectarium, and chart data.
  80.  
  81. *  The chart, table and font can be sized or adapted individually in
  82.    each of the above mentioned windows.
  83. *  An Aspect-toolbox allows for switching any aspect on and off
  84.    interactively. The result is dynamically shown in the Horoscope chart.
  85. *  The printed evaluation may be set with any available font, and in any
  86.    size. Headings, body text, aspects, planets and signs may be assigned
  87.    various colors. Therefore, with a color-printer at your disposal, you
  88.    can design your evaluations and graphics to be as colorful as desired.
  89. *  If you don't like the shape of the chart, it can be changed--even
  90.    including the width of the lines for the circle and aspects.

  92. The Professional Version additionally contains:
  93. *  The provision to add your own texts to the evaluation database and use
  94.    these texts together, or instead of Astro-Worlds'.
  95. *  Text output can be redirected to a file, for structure manipulation in
  96.    a Windows Wordprocessor (ASCII or RTF format).
  97. *  The Copyright-line with our names is replaced by "License: <User's Name>"
  98.    providing the explicit right to sell the horoscope-printouts.

  100. This program is not only targeted at Astrologers, but also for people who 
  101. prefer to deal with Astrology in a less serious way! If you just want to 
  102. print horoscopes for you and your friends, this program could be the the one!
  103.  
  104. Even for the serious Astrologer, this program in its present version might 
  105. leave a few wishes unfulfilled. However, you will quickly note the numerous 
  106. efforts made to improve the present version in comparison to its 
  107. predecessors--especially regarding the professional version. Some of the 
  108. recognized items for future addition are Directions, Progressions, and a 
  109. planetary clock. We will try to develop this program in a way that both 
  110. groups of potential users become happier and happier as time goes by, 
  111. particularly in the Professional Version.

  113. Many people will realize that this program offers a great opportunity make 
  114. money by selling horoscopes. It is not unusual to ask for $25.00 and the 
  115. professional quality output from Astro-World should more than support this.

  117. Language Versions

  119. The English and German Versions of Astro-World 2.2. and the French version 
  120. 2.1 is currently available. As of 10/95, the Spanish and Italian version are 
  121. nearly complete. Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Polish, Danish, Turkish, 
  122. Slovenian, Croatian and Serbian versions are currently being translated.

  125. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  126. *******************
  127. The program was developed on an Compac 90MHz Pentium with 32MByte RAM, 17" 
  128. VGA-screen, Postscript-Laser-printer and HP-DeskJet 560C under Windows 3.1 
  129. and later Windows 95. Astro-World 2.2 will run on every (DOS) Computer 
  130. equipped with Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. To obtain a clear graphic image, a 
  131. VGA display of at least 14 inches is required.

  133. The use of a Laser-printer or HP-DeskJet 550C will provide excellent 
  134. Printout-quality. Often, the resulting quality of a matrix-printer is highly 
  135. dependent on the abilities of the installed driver. Alas, we have experienced 
  136. some problems with certain drivers printing the Horoscope-chart. In such 
  137. cases, our advice would be to ensure you have the latest driver. 
  138. Alternatively, try different fonts and sizes.

  141. INSTALLATION
  142. ************
  143. The complete Package is delivered on three 3-1/2" Diskettes, labeled "Setup-
  144. Disk", "Disk 2" and "Disk 3". If you downloaded the files, make sure that 
  145. they are extracted and copied to three diskettes. Alternatively you can 
  146. unpack the files to a temporary directory where the files reside in Sub-
  147. Directories named Disk1, Disk2 and Disk3. For Example: Unpack the files 
  148. belonging to the Setup-Disk to C:\Temp\DISK1, the files for the second disk 
  149. to C:\Temp\DISK2 etc.

  151. Prior to installation: If you already have an "Astro" font installed from 
  152. another Astrology package, you may need to uninstall that font, back it up 
  153. and remove it from your font directory. (Note that the this font was the 
  154. first bit-map and outline font for the PC, and has been in use since 1986.)

  156. Now, follow the Setup-Instructions in the file: AWINSTALL.TXT

  158. The AstroWorld on-line help file (Astro.HLP), contains installation and 
  159. troubleshooting details. Simply click on INFO, then Help, for information.

  164. font (applicable trademarks and copyrights apply) is provided as shareware 
  165. and it is *not* to be exploited *without* permission of the author. To

  185. PROBLEMS / ERRORS

  187. If you encounter any Problems with the Program, please refer to the chapter 
  188. "Known Problems / Troubleshooting" in the Help-System. It is a compendium of 
  189. many questions asked by many users during the last two years. Thus, one might 
  190. say that it contains a treasury of knowledge about problems to date. 
  191. According to my experience, the probability of finding a solution here is 
  192. very high!

  226. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  228. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying it. 
  229. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected to 
  230. register. Individual programs differ on details -- some request registration

  233. software to an updated program with a printed manual.
