  6. We update ClipMate on a regular basis, and always make the latest
  7. copy available for evaluation and for registered users.  
  8. To obtain the latest version of ClipMate:
  9.  
  10. Internet: The best source, as we directly control the library.
  11.  ftp ftp.eznet.net (or possibly just eznet.net)
  12.  Log in as "anonymous", provide YOUR Email address as password.
  13.  cd \pub\tsoft
  14.  get clipmt*.zip
  15.  Tip:  we keep an empty file there, titled "latest_ClipMate_is_v?.??"
  16.        with the ?.?? representing the release number.  Simply do 
  17.        a directory listing (ls) to see whether you should bother
  18.        downloading the file.

  20. CompuServe:
  21.  ClipMate can be found on CompuServe in a variety of forums.
  22.  We know that it will be in WINSHARE, as CLIPMT.ZIP.  
  23.  Look in LIB 6, but there are no guarantees that it will 
  24.  always be in that library (they sometimes re-define libraries).

  36. System Requirements:
  37. --------------------
  38. Windows 3.1.
  39. VGA or better display.  Monchrome vga is ok.
  40. Mouse or other pointing device.
  41.  
  42. To install ClipMate, just run the accompanying
  43. SETUP program from the Program Manager.
  44. (ex: FILE|RUN A: SETUP)
  45.  
  46. The setup program does not require seperate install/target 
  47. directories, meaning that if you've un-zipped the files into
  48. the directory that you want to run from, you can still run the
  49. setup to install the software - it will just skip the copy step.
  50.  
  51. It is strongly recommended that ClipMate be placed in its own 
  52. directory (i.e. C:\CLIPMATE).
  53.  
  54. When the Setup program runs, it will create a ClipMate group
  55. with the ClipMate icon, and icons for documentation.  If you 
  56. decide to move the ClipMate icon to another group, such as the
  57. STARTUP group, you can delete the ClipMate group.
  58.  
  59. NOTE:  ClipMate doesn't alter ANY of your system files.
  60. It creates NO hidden files, puts NO DLLs or VBXs in your
  61. \windows\system directory, and is basically a CLEAN APPLICATION.
  62. ClipMate is EASY to get rid of, if you decide that it doesn't meet
  63. your needs.

  77. You are encouraged to place ClipMate in your Startup Group,
  78. and to assign a hot-key to it.  The hot-key must be done
  79. through the Program Manager, but the group can be changed
  80. during installation.

  82. To assign a hot key (after installation), just click once 
  83. on the icon, and select File|Properties from the Program 
  84. Manager's File Menu.  In the Hotkey field, press a 
  85. key-combination, such as Ctrl+Alt+C.

  145. De-Installation Notes:
  146. ----------------------
  147. These instructions are included in the event that you determine that
  148. ClipMate does not meet your needs, and therefore should be removed
  149. from your system. 
  150.  
  151. Before deleting ClipMate, you should review the contents of 
  152. the OVERVIEW screen in the on-line help.  If you have put ClipMate through
  153. a proper evaluation, then everything on that screen should be familiar to
  154. you.  If this is not the case, then you may want to spend some more time 
  155. evaluating ClipMate.  
  156.  
  157. In the event that you wish to remove ClipMate from your system, 
  158. erase the \windows\clipmate.ini file, as well as all files in the
  159. \clipmate directory (or wherever you put ClipMate), and the
  160. \clipmate\data directory.  
  161. Then remove the ClipMate group from the Program Manager, as well 
  162. as the ClipMate Icon in your Startup group (if you put it there).

  164. Please note that no changes were made to your WIN.INI, System.INI,
  165. or any other Windows system files.  There are no hidden files.

  177. Norton Desktop for Windows users should upgrade to Norton Desktop 
  178. version 2.0.  
  179. Version 2.0 will work, if you make this change:
  180.   To make ClipMate (and most other programs compiled with a Borland
  181.   compiler) compatible with NDW v 2.0: make a change to the NDW.INI
  182.   file, which is found in the Windows directory.
  183.   In the [NHookSettings] section of NDW.INI, set Int21hHook=0.
  184.   Like this:

  187. There is sometimes a problem in conveting a clipmate data file from
  188. previous releases.  If you run into a General Protection Fault when
  189. converting an old file, you will need to delete, or rename the
  190. file.  If possible, send it to us, so that we can see what is
  191. causing the problem.
