  1. (10/23/94)  ASSASSIN.TXT  for Voodoo / Assassin "Production" (version A.04)

  3. Voodoo / Assassin is a Windows accessory / utility that facilitates sharing
  4. resources (such as modem ports) by killing a running application (such as a
  5. fax program that runs "24 hours a day") to make room for a second application
  6. (for example, an Electronic Mail program).  When the second application 
  7. terminates, Assassin can optionally restore the original application.
  8.  
  9. This file includes instructions for both installing Voodoo / Assassin, and for
  10. printing the documentation (if you do not already have a copy).  Detailed 
  11. instructions for use can be found in the main documentation.

  13. Windows installation from a diskette (preferred method)
  14. ------------------------------------

  16. 1) Start Windows
  17.  
  18. 2) If a version of Voodoo / Assassin is running, exit it before
  19.    proceeding.  If the running copy is waiting for a "Redo", terminate
  20.    the program it is waiting for.
  21.  
  22. 3) Insert the installation diskette in your floppy drive
  23.  
  24. 4) From "Program Manager", select "File", then "Run"
  25.    a) Enter "d:INSTALL", 
  26.       replacing "d" with the drive letter of your diskette drive
  27.    b) Select "OK"
  28.       Respond to the INSTALL dialog until the installation is complete

  31. DOS installation from a diskette (secondary installation method)
  32. ---------------------------------

  34. 1) Copy the files to the directory of your choice (called WEDIDIT in
  35.    these instructions):

  37.    For example, from "DOS prompt":

  39.    C> MKDIR \WEDIDIT
  40.    C> CD \WEDIDIT
  41.    C> COPY A:*.*
  42.

  44. Printing the documentation
  45. -------------------------

  47. From Windows, use Microsoft Write to print the documentation file ASSASSIN.WRI. 
  48.  
  49. For example, if you installed into the default directory (WEDIDIT):
  50.  
  51.    1) Run "Write".  NOTE: "Write" is one of the programs you received with 
  52.       Windows, and will be present unless you  deleted it.  This is NOT the
  53.       same program as "Microsoft Word", which is a separately purchased
  54.       word processor.

  56.    2) Select "File", then "Open"
  57.       Enter "\WEDIDIT\ASSASSIN.WRI" and select "OK"

  59.    3) Select "File", then "Print"
