  6. .            HOW VIDEO.80.V6 WORKS

  8. .    VIDEO.80.V6 stores records on each show in this form...
  9.  
  10. .    tape no.   name   type   length   start   end
  11.  
  12. .    Where tape no. is the number of the tape; name is the name of the
  13. show; type is a code for the type comments and sound of the show; and
  14. length is the time of the show in minutes.  Start and end are the 
  15. starting and ending counter numbers.

  17. .    VIDEO.80.V6 allows up to twenty shows on one tape.  It will search
  18. and manage among these records as it completes its functions.
  19.  
  20. .    VIDEO.80.V6 stores the length of each tape.  This enables the program
  21. to support a variety of tapes.

  24. .            USING VIDEO.80
  25.  
  26. .    With its menu-driven format and a generous number of system prompts I
  27. hope you will find VIDEO.80.V6 fun and easy to use. I normally use
  28. VIDEO.80.V6 weekly after reviewing the TV listings for the next week. 
  29. I will search for space to record the new shows and print a 'taping notes'
  30. log to leave by my VCR.  I then will print a full listing of all shows
  31. from the 'PRINTOUT' options.

  33. .    Sometimes I will then update the file by changing the type of some
  34. shows to 'temporary'.  These shows will be considered for replacement by
  35. VIDEO.80.V6.
  36.  
  37. .    A sample datafile (called vidfile) may be on your disk.  Begin your time
  38. with VIDEO.80.V6 by selecting 'load a program' from the 'FILE MANAGEMENT'
  39. menu.  Use this data to explore the options and capabilities of VIDEO.80.
  40. Later you can re-enter the program and begin creating your own unique data
  41. file using the 'VCR INFORMATION' options.

  44. .    A note for those of you who have used previous versions of VIDEO.80.
  45. This version DOES support multiple speeds on VHS or Beta VCRs.
  46. The program will use previously created datafiles.  You will be prompted
  47. to enter the speed at which your shows were recorded.  VIDEO.80.V6 will
  48. make the necessary file conversions automatically.

  50. .    It would be a good idea to save a version of the old file in case you
  51. encounter any conversion problems.
  52.  
  53. .    To avoid any file problems you should avoid using commas in any
  54. input field.
  55.  
  56. .    A file called 'bootmaker' may be on this disk.  You can run this
  57. program to create an auto-booting feature for your copy of VIDEO.80.V6.
