  13. ABOUT THE VIDEO GAME RATINGS REPORT

  15. In this report, video games have been rated on a scale of 1 to 10,
  16. with 10 being the best and 1 being the worst.  For each video game,
  17. the total number of votes, the average rating, and the vote
  18. distribution are shown.  New video games are indicated by an `*'
  19. before their entry.
  20.  
  21. The vote distribution uses a single character to represent the
  22. percentage of votes for each ranking.  The following characters codes
  23. can appear:
  24.      
  25. `.' no votes cast        `3' 30-39% of the votes  `7' 70-79% of the votes
  26. `0'  1-9%  of the votes  `4' 40-49% of the votes  `8' 80-89% of the votes
  27. `1' 10-19% of the votes  `5' 50-59% of the votes  `9' 90-99% of the votes
  28. `2' 20-29% of the votes  `6' 60-69% of the votes  `*' 100%   of the votes

  30. To have your votes tallied in the list, send mail to the video game
  31. ratings server (the address is given below).  In your letter, any line
  32. beginning with the word `vote' will be considered a vote.  All other
  33. lines are ignored.  Votes must be of the form:

  35.     vote rating system-code video-game-title
  36.  
  37. where `rating' is an integer between 1 and 10, `system-code' is a
  38. two-letter code describing the system, and `video-game-title' is
  39. everything else on the line after `system-code'.  Valid system codes
  40. include:

  42.    Al    Atari Lynx
  43.    Gb    Nintendo Game Boy
  44.    Gg    Sega Game Gear
  45.    Ne    Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) or Famicom
  46.    Ng    SNK Neo Geo
  47.    Sn    Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) or Super Famicom
  48.    Sg    Sega Genesis or Mega Drive
  49.    Tg    NEC Turbografx-16, Turboexpress, or PC-Engine
  50.  
  51. Case is not considered in video game titles or system codes.  Valid votes
  52. might be

  57. NO HUMAN WILL EVER SEE YOUR BALLOTS, AND YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE AN
  58. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF YOUR VOTES.  ALSO, THE VIDEO GAME RATINGS SERVER
  59. WILL SILENTLY IGNORE ALL INVALID VOTES.

  61. To make things easy, the `Reply-to' field of this posting is set to
  62. point to the video game ratings server.  If you are using the `rn'
  63. newsreader, simply hit `r' to send in your votes.

  66. report was provided by Chuck Musciano.  John Leo originally adapted
  67. this system for video games, and Eric Ng (the current video game
  68. ratings report administrator) has since made many more modifications.
