  14. FS-PRO requires a minimum of 1.9 mbytes of fixed disk space on
  15. any logical drive labeled C to H.  A minimum of 640  kbytes of 
  16. RAM  is required and,  it is suggested that you terminate  any 
  17. RAM-RESIDENT  software before using FS-PRO.  If you  select  a 
  18. drive  without  enough space left to properly  install  FS-PRO 
  19. then  you  will be notified and returned to the INSTALL  menu. 
  20. The installation will be halted. 
  21.  
  22. We  apologize to those who require partitions beyond H  drive. 
  23. Perhaps,   you  can duplicate the directories and  move  files 
  24. after the install process is complete.

  26. In addition to a fixed drive,  you must have a CGA, EGA or VGA 
  27. video driver. FS-PRO will NOT operate very well in monochrome. 
  28. Be  sure that your CONFIG.SYS file is set up properly for your 
  29. XT  or AT files and buffers and that you include  an  ANSI.SYS 
  30. driver and mouse, if necessary.

  44. FS-PRO  is  extremely  "path"  sensitive.  In  order  to  help 
  45. eliminate  the possibility of installation mistakes,  we  have 
  46. chosen to use an automatic INSTALLATION utility that "creates" 
  47. the proper sub-directories in which to store the FS-PRO system 
  48. files.  After they are "created"  we copy the proper files  to 
  49. their  proper  directory.  This is not unlike many  large  and 
  50. complex software systems that require multiple  subdirectories 
  51. to contain seperate file types. 
  52.  
  53. Another  feature  that  we  have chosen to  use  is  automatic 
  54. unpacking of compressed files.  This eliminates the need for a 
  55. user  to  have  the appropriate file compression  utility  and 
  56. reduces the total disk space requirements to ship FS-PRO.

  58. Occassionally,   experts  may  opt  to  install  FS-PRO  using 
  59. traditional  command  line  statements and "name"   their  own 
  60. directory  paths.  This is possible but,  we highly  recommend 
  61. against  it;  even for experts.  Before providing  FREE  VOICE 
  62. SUPPORT, you will be asked if you used the FS-PRO INSTALLATION 
  63. UTILITY  or,  if you attempted to install by DOS command  line 
  64. statements.

  107. This   installation   utility   will  create   the   following 
  108. directories on the fixed drive that you select.

  118. If you have a previous version of FS-PRO, you will be prompted 
  119. to  use  the FSPREP feature to prepare your drive for the  new 
  120. version.   This  will  delete  all  of  the  files  in   these 
  121. directories and allow you to install the new version.  Please, 
  122. backup any special airport or aircraft data base files  before 
  123. using  FSPREP.  This preparation feature will NOT  delete  any 
  124. files (MODE or otherwise)  that are located in your  Microsoft 
  125. Flight Simulator directory. It ONLY removes "old" FS-PRO files 
  126. from those directories listed above.

  128. If  you  already have the MODPAK1  adventures from a  previous 
  129. version  of FS-PRO then,  when you are prompted for a path  to 
  130. your  Flight  Simulator directory,  just press  ENTER  without 
  131. putting  anything into the prompt line.  That way,   we  won't 
  132. attempt  to  unpack  the adventures because you  already  have 
  133. them.   Remember,  however,  to to change your PATH using  the 
  134. SETUP   &   UTILITIES  module  following   this   installation 
  135. procedure.  Otherwise,  FS-PRO will not be able to locate your 
  136. Flight Simulator program for <F>lying.  Also, you will need to 
  137. unpack  the  ADVPAK1.EXE  file into the  \FSP\ADV  subdir  and 
  138. unpack  the adventure description (.DAT)  files before you can 
  139. read the new adventure scenerio NOTAMS.

  145. FS-PRO  uses  an  INDEXED data base  to  search  for  specific 
  146. AIRPORT  and  AIRCRAFT files.  We provide  approximately  1200 
  147. airport  entries for all scenery disks and extract  it  during 
  148. the install process. 
  149.  
  150. However,  since we do NOT provide a similar data base for  the 
  151. AIRCRAFT types (you enter your own up to 9,999) we must format 
  152. a NEW one so that you may begin entering your own.  Therefore, 
  153. you  can  observe the process as we format  \FSP\AIRCRAFT  and 
  154. proceed to the next step.

  160. Following the installation, we will automatically "run" FS-PRO 
  161. so  that you may complete the installation by using the  SETUP 
  162. utility provided.  Be certain to read the FS-PRO "Information" 
  163. files  which  will point you to the proper setup  utility  and 
  164. procedures.

  166. Please,  remember to read FSPRO.DOC provided on System Disk #5 
  167. of 6 or, #3 of 3 and, README.1ST on System Disk #1 of 6. These 
  168. are  normal,   DOS-ASCII text files.  Also,   most  individual 
  169. modules are equipped with INFORMATION screens similar to this. 
  170. You  are  encouraged  to read each of them  before  using  the 
  171. associated module.
