  48. The File menu contains commands that you use to open, save and print images. In 
  49. addition, it also contains the command that you use to exit the application. 
  50.  
  51. The following commands appear in the File menu:

  53. Open...             Opens an existing image file. 
  54.  
  55. Save As...          Saves the current image using a new name. 
  56.  
  57. Print...            Prints the current image on the default printer.

  59. Exit                Quits this application.

  64. You can open an image that exists on any drive or in any directory by using the 
  65. Open... command. To open an image, do the following:

  69. A dialog box appears, showing you a list of files in the current directory.

  116. Image Info          Displays information about picture format and size.

  118. Convert to Gray     Converts a color image to a grayscale image.

  120. Horizontal mirror   Flips the image around the horizontal axis.

  122. Vertical mirror     Flips the image around the vertical axis.

  124. Rotate Left         Rotates the image by 90 degrees.

  126. Rotate Right        Rotates the image clockwise by 90 degrees.

  175. You can rotate an image to the left by using the Rotate Left command. To rotate

  191. You can invert the colors of an image by using the Invert command. To invert 
  192. your image's colors, do the following:

  199. You can modify the size of your image by using the Resize command. To resize 
  200. your image do the following:

  202. o Select the Edit menu and choose the Resize command.

  204. o Choose the desired resizing factor.

  209. Dithering is necessary when an output device is not capable of representing all 
  210. the colors needed for displaying an image. Laser printers, for example, do 
  211. normally only support two colors (including the background color). A method is 
  212. needed for converting color images into monochrome bitmaps. Halftone dithering 
  213. algorithms do exactly that work. SHOW supports the following halftone dithering 
  214. algorithms: 
  215.  
  216. o Dithering with a constant threshold. 
  217.  
  218. o Dithering with random numbers. 
  219.  
  220. o Dithering with a matrix. 
  221.  
  222. o Dithering with a matrix and random numbers. 
  223.  
  224. o Dithering with one-dimensional error recovery. 
  225.  
  226. o Floyd-Steinberg dithering.

  231. The Window menu contains commands that you use to set the picture displaying 
  232. options and modify the program window behaviour. 
  233.  
  234. The following commands appear in the Window menu: 
  235.  
  236. Original size            If checked, your image will be displayed in its 
  237.                          original size. 
  238.  
  239. Window size              Modifies application window size. 
  240.  
  241. Adjust window size       If checked, the window will be stretched to the image 
  242.                          size. 
  243.  
  244. Aspect Ratio             If checked, the image's aspect ratio will be 
  245.                          preserved. 
  246.  
  247. Use Palette Manager      If ckecked, the physical color palette will be changed 
  248.                          each time you modify an image for enabling a better 
  249.                          color representation. 
  250.  
  251. Save options             Use this command to save the current settings. 
  252.

  256. The images you load can be shown in their original size or stretched to the 
  257. window size. When you check the Original Size menu item, all images will get 
  258. their original size. To check or uncheck the Original Size menu item, do the 
  259. following:

  261. o Select the Edit menu and choose the Original Size menu item. 
  262.

  266. You can change the size of the application window by using the Window Size 
  267. command. To change the size of the program window, do the following:

  269. o Select the Edit menu and choose the Window Size command.

  271. o Choose the desired window size.

  273. The application window will be adjusted to the selected size.

  278. When you load or modify an image, the application window size is normally 
  279. adjusted to the image size. You can modify this behaviour by unchecking the 
  280. Adjust Window Size menu item. To switch the Adjust Window Size menu item, do 
  281. the following:

  283. o Select the Edit menu and choose the Adjust Window Size command. 
  284.  
  285.  
  286. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 23. Aspect Ratio ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  288. When your Original Size menu item is unchecked, your image will be stretched to 
  289. the window size. Normally, this will modify the aspect ratio of your image and 
  290. your image will appear deformed. To avoid this, you can check the Aspect Ratio 
  291. menu item. To switch the Aspect Ratio menu item, do the following: 
  292.  
  293. o Select the Edit menu and choose the Aspect Ratio command.

  296. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 24. Use Palette Manager ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  297.  
  298. When you load an image, it will normally be displayed using the physical color 
  299. palette used currently by your graphics adapter. However, the physical color 
  300. palette may be changed for improving the color representation quality. This can 
  301. be done by using palette manager functions. 
  302.  
  303. Check the Use Palette Manager menu item if you want to modify the physical 
  304. color palette each time you modify your image. 
  305.  
  306. Note:  This function should only be used when really necessary, because the 
  307. operating system cannot guarantee consistent colors in other windows. 
  308.  
  309.  
  310. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 25. Save options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  312. Use Save options to store the current options. A file named SHOW.INI will be 
  313. created in your working directory. The next time you start this application 
  314. these same settings will be used.
