  1. Bill of Rights
  2. Amendments (One through Ten)

  4. 1st Amendment
  5.           Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,
  6.    or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
  7.    speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble,
  8.    and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
  9.  
  10. 2nd Amendment
  11.           A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free
  12.    state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be
  13.    infringed.

  15. 3rd Amendment
  16.           No soldier shall, in time of peace, be quarters in any house,
  17.    without the consent of the owner; nor in time of war, but in a manner to 
  18.    be prescribed by law.

  20. 4th Amendment
  21.           The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses,
  22.    papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not
  23.    be violated; and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause,
  24.    supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to
  25.    be searched and the persons or things to be seized.

  27. 5th Amendment
  28.           No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise
  29.    infamous, crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury,
  30.    except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia,
  31.    when in actual service, in time of war, or public danger; nor shall any
  32.    person be subject, for the same offence, to be twice put in jeopardy of
  33.    life or limb; nor shall be compelled, in any criminal case, to be a 
  34.    witness against himself; nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, 
  35.    without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public 
  36.    use, without just compensation.

  38. 6th Amendment
  39.           In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to 
  40.    a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district
  41.    wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have 
  42.    been previously ascertained by law; and to be informed of the nature and 
  43.    cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; 
  44.    to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor; and to 
  45.    have the assistance of counsel for his defence.

  47. 7th Amendment
  48.           In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed
  49.    twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved; and no fact,
  50.    tried by a jury, shall be otherwise ~reexamined in any court of the United
  51.    States than according to the rules of the common law.

  53. 8th Amendment
  54.           Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed,
  55.    nor cruel and unusual punishment inflicted.
  56.  
  57. 9th Amendment
  58.           The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be
  59.    construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.
  60.  
  61. 10th Amendment
  62.           The powers not delegated to the United States shall not be construed
  63.    to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one
  64.    of the United States by citizens of another State or by citizens or
  65.    subjects of any foreign state.
