  1. Amendments (Twenty through Twenty-Six)

  3. 20th Amendment
  4.    Sect. 1.      The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at
  5.               noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and
  6.               Representatives at noon on the 3rd day of January, of the years
  7.               in which such terms would have ended if this article had not
  8.               been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then
  9.               begin.
  10.    Sect. 2.      The Congress shall assemble at least once in every years, and
  11.               such meeting shall begin at noon on the 3rd day of January,
  12.               unless they shall by law appoint a different day.
  13.    Sect. 3.      If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the
  14.               President, the President-elect shall have died, the Vice
  15.               President-elect shall become President.  If a President shall
  16.               not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of
  17.               his term, or if the President-elect shall have failed to
  18.               qualify, then the Vice President-elect shall act as President
  19.               until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by
  20.               law provide for the case wherein neither a President-elect nor a
  21.               Vice President-elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall
  22.               then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act
  23.               shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a
  24.               President or Vice President shall have qualified.
  25.    Sect. 4.      The Congress may by law provide for the case of the death of
  26.               any of the persons from whom the House of Representatives may
  27.               choose a President whenever the right of choice shall have
  28.               devolved upon them, and for the case of the death of any of the
  29.               persons from whom the Senate may choose a Vice President
  30.               whenever the right of choice shall have devolved upon them.
  31.    Sect. 5.      Sections 1 and 2 shall take effect on the 15th day of October
  32.               following the ratification of this article.
  33.    Sect. 6.      This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been
  34.               ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by three-fourths of
  35.               the several States within seven years from the date of its
  36.               submission.

  38. 21st Amendment
  39.    Sect. 1.      The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of
  40.               the United States is hereby repealed.
  41.    Sect. 2.      The transportation or importation into any State, Territory,
  42.               or possession of the United States for delivery or use therein
  43.               of intoxicating liquors, in violation of the laws thereof, is
  44.               hereby prohibited.
  45.     Sect. 3.      This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been
  46.               ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by conventions in
  47.               the several States, as provided in the Constitution, within
  48.               seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the States
  49.               by the Congress.

  51. 22nd Amendment
  52.    Sect. 1.      No person shall be elected to the office of the President
  53.               more than twice, and no person who has held the office of
  54.               President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a
  55.               term to which some other person was elected President shall be
  56.               elected to the office of the President more than once.  But this
  57.               Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of
  58.               President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and
  59.               shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of
  60.               President, or acting as President, during the term within which
  61.               his Article becomes operative from holding the office of
  62.               President or acting as President during the remainder of such
  63.               term.
  64.    Sect. 2.      This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been
  65.               ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures
  66.               of three-fourths of the several states within seven years from
  67.               the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.

  69. 23rd Amendment
  70.    Sect. 1.      The District constituting the seat of Government of the
  71.               United States shall appoint in such manner as the Congress may
  72.               direct: A number of electors of President and Vice President
  73.               equal to the whole number of Senators and Representative in
  74.               Congress to which the District would be entitled if it were a
  75.               State, but in no event more than the least populous State; they
  76.               shall be considered, for the purposes of the election of
  77.               President and Vice President, to be electors appointed by a
  78.               State; and they shall meet in the District and perform such
  79.               duties as provided by the twelfth article of amendment.
  80.    Sect. 2.      The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by
  81.               appropriate legislation.

  83. 24th Amendment
  84.    Sect. 1.      The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any
  85.               primary or other election for President or Vice President, for
  86.               electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or
  87.               Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by
  88.               the United States or any State by reason of failure to pay any
  89.               poll tax or other tax.
  90.     Sect. 2.     The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by
  91.               appropriate legislation.

  93. 25th Amendment
  94.    Sect. 1.      In case of the removal of the President from office or of his
  95.               death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.
  96.    Sect. 2.      Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice
  97.               President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who
  98.               shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both
  99.               Houses of Congress.
  100.    Sect. 3.      Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore
  101.               of the Senate and the Speakers of the House of Representatives
  102.               his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the
  103.               powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them
  104.               a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties
  105.               shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting
  106.               President.
  107.    Sect. 4.      Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the
  108.               principal officers of the executive departments or of such other
  109.               body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President
  110.               pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of
  111.               Representatives their written declaration that the President is
  112.               unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the
  113.               Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of
  114.               the office as Acting President.
  115.                  Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro
  116.               tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of
  117.               Representatives his written declaration that no inability
  118.               exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office
  119.               unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal
  120.               officers of the executive department or of such other body as
  121.               Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the
  122.               President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House
  123.               of Representatives their written declaration that the President
  124.               is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.
  125.               Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within
  126.               forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session.  If the
  127.               Congress, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to
  128.               assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the
  129.               President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his
  130.               office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same
  131.               as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the
  132.               powers and duties of his office.

  134. 26th Amendment
  135.    Sect. 1.      The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen
  136.               years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged
  137.               by the United States or by any State on account of age.
  138.    Sect. 2.      The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by
  139.               appropriate legislation.
