  1. BLACK SCREEN 
  2.  
  3. ESTABLISHING SHOT -- INT. LOBBY OF THE PLAZA 
  4. HOTEL 
  5.  
  6. WIDE ANGLE displaying the elegant white-and-
  7. gold Plaza lobby to its best advantage.  Angle
  8. favors the revolving doors on the Fifth Avenue
  9. side.  Through them a Central Park hansom cab
  10. can be seen passing by, and the Plaza double-
  11. P logo with "The Plaza" in script under it is 
  12. in evidence in the shot. Various well-to-
  13. do looking people, bellmen, etc, are going 
  14. about their business in the lobby, as we HOLD 
  15. on this angle for a moment.  Then:  SFX:
  16. TREMENDOUS EXPLOSION!  as the revolving doors
  17. are BLOWN UP and inwards toward our POV.  
  18. People in the lobby REACT with predictable 
  19. alarm -- 
  20.  
  21. CLOSER ON THE DOORS 
  22.  
  23. Or where they used to be, as fragments of glass
  24. and brass and whatnot collapse inward toward
  25. us with appropriate SFX.  In over the rubble 
  26. come running several STORMTROOPERS, armed with
  27. rifle-blasters with which they cover the lobby
  28. and the people in it.  And through the smoke 
  29. and haze still lingering where the doors were 
  30. blasted in, comes striding a tall, dark, 
  31. menacing, very familiar figure, with his black 
  32. cloak billowing behind him, and the expected 
  33. SFX: LOUD, MECHANICAL BREATHING NOISES coming
  34. from inside his helmet.  He walks right up 
  35. to the camera till he is framed in MED. ANGLE.
  36.  
  37.         DARTH VADER 
  38.          (that famous voice, making
  39.              this a very silly question)
  40.     Do you know me?...
  41.  
  42. DIFFERENT ANGLE 
  43.  
  44. CAMERA FOLLOWS as the Dark Lord strolls through 
  45. the Plaza lobby, past the Palm Court, and toward
  46. the registration desk.  As Vader walks along,
  47. we see various people in b.g. REACTING to his
  48. presence -- a child starting toward Vader in
  49. absolute fascination, a worried mother realizing
  50. just who that is, and hustling the child OUT 
  51. OF SHOT -- businessmen staring, elegantly-
  52. dressed little old ladies glancing up in 
  53. annoyance at having their afternoon tea 
  54. disturbed, etc. ad lib.  Also in b.g., following
  55. Vader as unobtrusively as possible, we see 
  56. several Stormtroopers carrying in his luggage.  
  57. All black, of course....
  58.  
  59.                 VADER 
  60.               (to the camera, as he 
  61.               goes:  slightly sinister 
  62.               overtones)
  63.     My...*business*...takes me all 
  64.         over the Galaxy.  To Force-
  65.     forsaked spots like Hoth, and
  66.     Tattooine.  
  67.           (very slight beat)
  68.     And New York City.  
  69.  
  70. CLOSER -- AT THE REGISTRATION DESK
  71.  
  72. He pauses beside it,  In b.g., again rather 
  73. unobtrusively, a Stormtrooper comes up carrying
  74. a two-suiter (black again) and leading a pair 
  75. of Dobermans, on leashes, each with its own 
  76. black cloak.  
  77.  
  78.                     VADER 
  79.     That's why I carry the American 
  80.     Express Gold Card.  
  81.            (holds it up)
  82.     With the Card, I'm guaranteed an 
  83.         imperial welcome in the greatest 
  84.     hotels and restaurants on Earth. 
  85.     And no matter where I may find
  86.     myself, the Card makes sure I'm 
  87.     treated with the respect I deserve. 
  88.  
  89. DIFFERENT ANGLE 
  90.  
  91. Including more of the registration desk, and a 
  92. HOTEL RESERVATION CLERK, who leans over the desk 
  93. a bit to take in Vader, the Stormtroopers, 
  94. the Dobermans.  His expression is rather super-
  95. cilious and annoyed,  a "Who *is* this clown?"
  96. look.
  97.  
  98.             CLERK 
  99.                 (a touch snide)
  100.     Sir...do you have a reservation?
  101.  
  102. Vader looks at him, says nothing -- simply raises 
  103. the Card a bit, very slowly.  The clerk clutches 
  104. abruptly at his throat, choking.  He begins to 
  105. collapse behind the desk.  Vader leans forward
  106. slightly as the clerk starts going down, 
  107. "following" him.  The clerk grabs frantically 
  108. at the desk for support, then reaches for the 
  109. bell atop it and just manages to hit it (SFX:
  110. DING!) as he goes down behind the desk and OUT 
  111. OF SHOT.  
  112.  
  113.                  CLERK (CONT'D)
  114.         (barely squeaks it out)
  115.     Front!
  116.  
  117. CLOSER ON VADER 
  118.  
  119. Still holding up the Card, Vader glances ever so
  120. briefly at it...then BACK AT CAMERA again.  No 
  121. expression is visible through his helmet, of 
  122. course...but his voice sounds like a shark's 
  123. smile.
  124.  
  125.             VADER 
  126.         (wicked enjoyment)  
  127.     Sometimes I help it a little.  
  128.  
  129. INSERT -- ON BLANK CARD 
  130.  
  131. The usual shot of the Gold Card.  With SFX:
  132. TELETYPE NOISE, the words appear on it:  
  133. D-A-R-T-H  V-A-D-E-R.  (There is no expiration 
  134. date.  Would *you* ever try to cancel Darth 
  135. Vader's Amex card?)

  137.             ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
  138.     The American Express Gold Card.  
  139.     Don't leave *your* galaxy without
  140.     it.
