FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
----------------------
This is the demo version of APPLications 1.0. APPLications 1.0
is a software to file conversions between popular Apple and IBM
PC application programs: word processors, spread sheets and data
bases. The following data formats supported:
O Word processors
o AppleWorks word processor on Apple // side.
o ASCII text on Apple // side.
o Word Perfect on IBM PC side.
o ASCII text on IBM PC side.
O Spread sheets
o AppleWorks spread sheet on Apple // side.
o Lotus 1-2-3 on IBM PC side.
O Data bases
o AppleWorks data base on Apple // side.
o dBase on IBM PC side.
o .DTF format on IBM PC side.
If your favorite application is not present in this list it
doesn't mean APPLications cannot help you. Most of applications
have a possibility to import files in other formats so if your
favorite word processor is not WordPerfect it surely can import
ASCII text file. In the user manual of your application you can
find out details required.
In this demo you can try working yourself. You can feel yourself
exactly as inside the real APPLications.
The only difference is advertisement information and not
supported file conversion formats except for the two: from
AppleWorks word processor to ASCII text file and vice versa.
Other formats you can set as current formats but you can't
perform file conversion itself.
CONTROL DESCRIPTION
-------------------
BASIC INFO
----------
There are two panels on the screen when you work. In the left
one you can see files of Apple // applications, in the right one
- of MS DOS applications. Each panel shows the contents of some
directory. The name of the directory you can see on the top line
of the panel. Directory in the left panel may be the same as in
the right one, or they may be different.
Files which you see in the panel are filtered by their
extensions so if a panel is empty it doesn't mean the directory
it shows is empty too. It just means there are no files which
have the correspondent extensions.
There are three columns on the left side of the column with file
name. They have titles : SIZE, DATE and TIME and tell size, date
and time of the file.
Files are shown in the lower case. If current directory contain
subdirectories their names are shown in UPPER CASE with the
words SUB-DIR in the SIZE column. If current directory is a
subdirectory the way out is shown as '..' with the words UP-DIR
in the SIZE column.
There is a SELECTOR in one of the panels. It is CYAN bar which
you can move up or down list of files using Up, Down arrows,
Home, End, PgUp and PgDn keys. Up and Down keys move selector
one item up or down; PgUp or PgDn move selector one screenful up
or down; Home and End move selector to the beginning or end of
list. Pressing Tab key you can toggle selector between the
panels.
If you press Ins key when selector is on a file name this file
is highlighted and selector moves one item down. If you press
selector on a highlighted file it 'unhighlighted'. You can
select a group of files using Ins key and then perform some
actions with this group as a whole ( convert them, delete, etc
).
Files which are highlighted we shall call SELECTED FILES. File
of directory entry on which selector resides we shall call
CURRENT ITEM.
Other actions which can be performed by the APPLications you can
made using Function keys ( their quick help you see in the
bottom line ), and Upper menu bar.
