  6. ===========

  8.       808DRUMS is the first patch set of the PERCS patches serie. In this
  9. serie, all patches are of drums or percussive instruments. They are mono or
  10. multisampled. It is distributed in an archive called 808DRUMS.ARJ ( 808 is
  11. from TR-808, a Roland drum machine). In the archive, you should have:

  47.       If a file is missing or is not of this length, please ask the person
  48. you got it from to erase the archive and get the correct version from one of
  49. the official distribution points (see end of file).

  51.       All the patches that start with 808 are sampled from a Roland TR-808
  52. or from a Boss DR-660 (samples of 808) and represent:
  53.       808CBELL.PAT is a cow bell sound. It is used for example on Yellow
  54. Magic Orchestra's Hi tech/No crime. COWBELL.PAT is a full range version. You
  55. will find that the lower octaves sounds like SolidBass preset from Yamaha FM
  56. synths (DX-7, DX-21 as used by Technotronics).
  57.       808CLAP.PAT is a hand clap. 808CLAP2.PAT has a shorter release, and
  58. 808CLAPS.PAT is a memory saving version.
  59.       808CLAVE.PAT is a clave perc. The other 808CLAV?.PAT are shorter
  60. versions, again for memory considerations.
  61.       808CONG.PAT is a low conga. 808CONGM.PAT is mid conga and 808CONH.PAT
  62. is high conga. Similar to congas in "In the air tonight" (Phil Collins).
  63.       808CYMB.PAT is a crash cymbal. It is fairly big because of the release.
  64.       808HH.PAT and 808HH2.PAT are closed hihats. 808HO.PAT is open hihat.
  65.       808KICK*.PAT are various kick drums. A melodic version is MELOKICK.PAT.
  66.       808MARA*.PAT are maracas. For better maracas, check 727DRUMS.ARJ.
  67.       808RIM*.PAT are snare rim shots.
  68.       808SD*.PAT are 4 snare drums.
  69.       808TOMHI.PAT is a high tom and 808TOMLO.PAT is a low tom (a la Jan
  70. Hammer). These are not totally like the original because of the envelopped
  71. release instead of a sampled release.
  72.       All 808*.PAT should go in the perc section of ultrasnd.ini or default.
  73. cfg while COWBELL.PAT and MELOKICK.PAT should go in the melodic section.

  75. What's next
  76. ===========

  78.       More percussive instruments (steel drums, 909, 727) are beeing made now
  79. (July 7th 1993), and they will be released sometime in the future.
  80.       In parallel i'll be doing a REAL patch serie (real instruments) and an
  81. ANASYN patch serie (analog synths).

  95.       Even if the files are not that big, a lot of work went into creating
  96. them. This is why i have put a copyright on them. What this means is that
  97. they are provided for a personnal use. Any public performance, recording
  98. or commercial use is forbidden unless an written agreement is signed
  99. between me (Francois Dion) and the user of these patches.

  101.       You can redistribute this archive provided that you keep all the
  102. files in the archive. You cannot rename the archive to anything else
  103. than: 808DRUMS.ext, where ext is the extension of the archiver. You
  104. cannot modify the patches (including the name) without my permission.

  106.       No fees can be charged to distribute this archive except for
  107. the direct cost of the media on which it is distributed, limited to
  108. 3$ in Canadian funds. For CDROM, contact me.

  115.       This patch set is released to the GUS community to try out and is
  116. free. You can however send me any contributions ( postcards, money,
