Welcome to version 2.00 of VGAsave.
There is just one change for version 2.00. VGAsave has been made
windows aware. With version 2.00, it is no longer required to
disable VGAsave in a batch file before launching windows. VGAsave
will detect that windows is coming on line, restore the screen if it
is blank, and turn itself off. Furthermore, VGAsave will not allow
the user to re-enable the screen saver until windows has been exited.
Then once windows is exited, VGAsave will automatically re-enable
itself.
The windows detection may be enabled and disabled with two new command
line switches, /win_off and /win_on, respectively. The windows
detection may also be controlled from the interactive menu.
The status command (VGAsave /s) has been upgraded to show that VGAsave
has been disabled for MS-Windows. In the case that windows is active,
the status command will show "Saver: Disabled for MS-Windows". This
is different from the usual "Saver: Disabled" status message. When
VGAsave indicates that it has been disabled for MS-Windows, it cannot
be re-enabled until windows has been exited.
The status command has also been upgraded to show whether or not
the /int33 switch was used when VGAsave has been started.
Special thanks goes to Andy Charmatz who passed along the information
required to make VGAsave windows aware and some usage notes for netware
users.
Since there are many possible combinations of command line
switches, hot keys, etc..., it is just about impossible for
me to an exhaustively test of all the possibilities for bugs. I
believe that I have caught all the problems. But, a few unpleasant
surprises may still be lurking. :( If you stumble across a bug,
please send a short message outlining the problem to my internet
account (javurek@msen.com) and mention VGAsave 2.00 in the subject
header. Thanks.
Mail indicating that you are not having any problems and that you like
the program is always welcome. I've spent quite a bit of time on this
project, and it is nice to know that somebody besides me and a few other
folks are using VGAsave.
