GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY

Luke 2:8-17
I. HEAVENLY HERALDER (Preacher)
1. The Angel of the Lord.
2. The heralding of a new dispensation.
3. The simplicity of the message.
- the message was: Plain,
Pointed,
Practical,
Powerful.
"Fear not I bring you good tidings of great joy."
II. ASTONISHED AUDIENCE.
"Shepherds in the field."
1. They were attentive. v.8.
2. They were receptive. v.15-16.
3. They were demonstrative. v.17.
III. MEANINGFUL MESSAGE. v.10-12.
1.Mysterious. (element of mystery and intrigue.)
"Unto you is born Christ the Lord."
2. Good. v.10. "Good tidings."
note: the giving of the law
a. The voice brought fear and quaking.
b. The Law was holy, just, good.
c. But it wasn't good (pleasant) news.
note: the birth of Christ.
a. Good news. It brings joy, hope.
3. Joyful. "Good tidings of great joy" v.10.
note : Fear not.
4. Personal. "I bring you good tidings."
"For unto you is born this day."
5. Universal. "Which shall be for all people."
"All nations shall call Him blessed." Psalm. 72:11.
6. Confirmed. "Suddenly a multitude of heavenly hosts
praising God and saying glory to God in the Highest"
v.13-14.
Nothing was done in a corner; The Devil knew what was
happening.
