Group Setup
Groups are identified by a two character code. When group
transmission is selected, all pagers belonging to the
selected group will be sent a message. If no pagers belong
to the requested group NO error indication is given.
A pager may belong to up to five groups. To avoid confusion
chose character codes that are identifiable. While not
critical - since a description is associated with each
group - it may help in finding the correct item in a
complex structure.

The port is a number that tells your
software how to send data to the out-
side world.
Usually in ranges of one to four, one
or two is the most common.
The term baud indicates the speed
at which data is sent to the out-
side world.
You will probably find that 300 or
1200 (1200 is preferred) will be
the recommended setting. Your ser-
vice provider should tell you the
connect baud rate.
Dial Command Strings
DT and DP are prefixes to the tele-
phone number that the modem will
dial.
Standing for "Dial Tone" and "Dial
Pulse", they inform the modem of how
your phone system works.
The Modem Init String
The modem init string contains the control
sequences necessary to cause the modem to
function properly for dialing and task
initialization. It should include the AT code
followed by the codes to set no echo (E), quite
mode off (Q0), numeric result codes (V0) and
extended result codes on (x4).
