  1. Thanks for trying Garage Sale Manager!  We think it will make your
  2. garage sale much easier to organize and keep track of.
  3.  
  4. You should have these files on the distribution disk or in the
  5. ZIP file you downloaded:
  6.    READ_ME.1ST - This file.
  7.    INSTALL.BAT - The installation procedure.
  8.    GARAGE.EXE  - The Garage Sale Manager program itself.
  9.    GARAGE.DOC  - The instruction manual for the program.
  10.    GARAGE.HLP  - The on-line help file for Garage Sale Manager.
  11.    GARAGE.PIF  - Program information file for use with Microsoft
  12.                  Windows 3.x.
  13.    GARAGE.ICO  - Icon file for use with Microsoft Windows 3.x.
  14.    REGISTER.FRM - Registration form.
  15.  
  16. If this is a registered version, you will also have the file
  17. EAGLE.SYS.  This is the registration key file which removes the
  18. shareware "reminders" from the open and close of the program
  19. and removes the advertisement for the program from the bottom
  20. of each receipt you print.  Since Garage Sale Manager is a
  21. shareware program, you are encouraged to pass it around to
  22. friends, upload it to bulletin boards, etc.  But please do not
  23. include the EAGLE.SYS file in copies you may distribute.

  25. The first time you run the program, it will create two files:
  26.    SALE.DAT    - The items you are offering for sale.
  27.    OWNER.DAT   - The persons owning the items in your sale.
  28. To start over, delete those two files.  They will be created
  29. any time you run the program if they do not exist.

  31. Installing the program from a distribution diskette:  insert
  32. the diskette in the appropriate drive and change to that drive.
  33. Type INSTALL.  The installation procedure will create a directory
  34. on your C: drive named C:\GARAGE and copy all files to it.
  35.  
  36. Installing the program from a ZIP file:  make a directory on your
  37. hard disk (recommended name C:\GARAGE) and un-ZIP the files into it.
  38.  
  39. To run the program, change to C:\GARAGE and type GARAGE.
  40.  
  41. Running from diskette:  You should be able to run this program from
  42. a diskette, although it is not suggested.  It will be much slower
  43. because of the constant disk reads and writes.
  44.  
  45. This is the first release of Garage Sale Manager.  It should be
  46. considered a "late beta" version.  It has been tested thoroughly,
  47. but there is always the possibility of an undiscovered bug.  If
  48. you have any problems using the program, please let me know right
  49. away so I can fix them.

  51. The shareware registration fee for this program is $20 plus $2 to
  52. cover the cost of diskette, mailer and postage ($4 outside the US
  53. because of higher postage).

  55. The file REGISTER.FRM is a registration form.  Please fill it out
  56. and send it with a check or money order for $22 ($24 outside the
  57. US) in US funds to:
