Czechoslovak Genealogical Society
(A branch of the Minnesota Genealogical Society)
The Czechoslovak Genealogical Society invites you to become a member,
participant, and volunteer in the largest Czechoslovak genealogical group in
the country. Their purposes are to promote genealogical research and to
create an interest in Czechoslovakian ancestry and heritage. The Society
is for anyone with ancestry in the Czechoslovak area, including:
Bohemian
Moravian
Silesian
Rusin
Slovakian
German
Ruthenian
Jewish
The Czechoslovak Genealogical Society offers you:
-A welcome packet
Each new member will receive a packet of basic research information
and forms.
-Quarterly Newsletter
All members receive issues of the quarterly newsletter. The
newsletter contains the society's information including:
A. Helpful research articles
B. Articles by genealogical experts
C. Free research queries for members
D. Up-to-date information on what's happening on Czechoslovak
research in the U.S., canada and Europe
E. Sharing of resource information
F. Reviews of all major research books
G. Notices of upcoming meetings and activities
H. Notice of upcoming events in the Czechoslovak community
-Workshops
A. All-day workshops featuring recognized research experts
B. Video-taped (when possible) for member rental (including handouts)
-Research materials
A. Materials for sale by mail-order or at meetings including books,
maps, dictionaries, cookbooks, shirts, etc.
-Quarterly meetings
A. Various programs on genealogical and historic topics
B. Sharing of resource materials
C. Cameo reports on a wide range of topics
D. "Help tables" maintained by experienced researchers
E. Research books and materials for sale
-Research Library
The Czechoslovak Genealogical Society has compiled a research library
for its members. The library includes many research books, maps,
family and church histories. Please help build the library!
Donations are always greatly appreciated!
-Related cultural organization "Sokol"
Members are encouraged to join Sokol to help keep alive Czechoslovakian
heritage. Sokol activities include dances, ethnic food, language,
music, etc. For more information and where your nearest Sokol is,
send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to:

-Genealogical tours
The purpose of the Czechoslovak Genealogical Society is:
A. To provide a forum for sharing research information
B. To collect and publish genealogical and historical research materials
for use by members
C. To create an interest in Czechoslovak ancestry and heritage
D. To provide a variety of programs and speakers to inform and assist
members in research
E. To provide a means of purchasing research materials not commonly
available
The importance of joining
You can help both yourself and others by joining the society and build on
the vast knowledge of the many members, and the resources in the Newsletter
and library. The society intends to maintain a master list of surnames and
their village, town or district of origin. They may also be able to locate
long lost relatives both here and in the old country.
