Well, a bunch of you asked for it so here it is- printed statistics
for Front Page Sports football. This prototype version is just bare bones,
minimal at best. With any luck, it will wet your appetites for more. I
spent many hours deciphering the code dynamix used for their statistics and
I hope it will be appreciated.
The use of version 1.00 is very simple, as all future versions will
be. There is no mouse support for this product as it became more and more
difficult to add as I went along.
To print statistics (the only ones available in this version are for
last week's game) use the arrow keys to choose the league from the first menu
and press enter. If the league you are looking for is not in the
current directory (denoted at the top of the menu), use the arrow keys to
select a new directory and hit enter. Note that the F1 key allows you to
change the active drive.
A list of all the teams in your chosen league will then appear on
the screen. Choose one (again using the arrow keys then enter) and, provided
that team has played a game during the last week, it's player stats will be
written to a file entitled team.txt where "team" is the three letter
abbreviation of that team's name. This file then can be easily printed using
a normal print command from the dos prompt. If no game was played by the
choosen team in the current week, you will be told so and no stats file will
be created. The ESC key will move you back to the previous screen (except
when stats files are being created) or exit you from the program.
By the time most of you read this, I will have put the finishing
touches on version 2.00. This version will have all three types of stats
available (game, season, carrer) for a single team. I have also had
a couple of requests for printing league standings. This should not be a
problem and, while it is not yet done, it shouldn't be difficult to
incorporate it into version 2.00.
Give version 1.00 a try and if you have any problems, please let me
know. I can be reached as Dave Ho on the Sierra BBS; on Prodigy as David
Hochheiser and at home by calling (602) 321-9723.
If you would like to order version 2.00 or the most recent version,
send $6.00, a disk (either 3.5 or 5.25) and a self-addressed disk mailer.
Or, if you would like, send $7.50 and I will be happy to supply a disk
(specify size of your choice) and a mailer. All return postage is included
(provided you live within the continental U.S.). Make checks payable to
David Hochheiser and send to me at:
4008 E. Lee St.
Tucson AZ 85712
P.S. If you have any thoughts on improving either version, please let me know.
