1stReader's Multimedia feature (MME) lets you play sound files
through your Sound Blaster (or compatible) sound card. 1stReader
can also play MIDI sequences through a MPU401-compatible interface.
If your computer system does not include a sound card or a MIDI
device then you should not install the multimedia files in order
to save hard disk space. 278,207 bytes of free disk space are
required for these files.
If you are running @READER@ under a multitasking system like
Windows or Desqview, we recommend that you do not use the MME
feature. Using this feature under a multitasker can cause your
system to lock up.
Also, some systems may not be able to handle multimedia files
without 'locking up'. If you experience 'freezes' with MME
turned on we recommend you disable the switch. You can start
@READER@ using the command "1ST /SILENT" in order to turn
MME off from the DOS command line.
