FLASHCARD ARITHMETIC -- QUICK NOTES
Things to know:
- This is SHAREWARE, not FREEEWARE
- Software requires CGA, EGA or VGA
- You can run it with minimum effort, but you should
look at FLASH.DOC if you want to use it to teach
your child arithmetic facts.
Things to do:
- Copy all files to a single directory or diskette
- Get current on that directory or diskette
- Type flashcrd and press enter
That runs the student program to practice arithmetic
- Type flashcfg and press enter
That runs the teacher/parent program to set profiles
One difference between the evaluation version and the registered
version is the personalized message on the screen as opposed to the
reminder about shareware. Thank you for registering this program.
The difference between v 3.4 and v 3.5: Fixed small unadvertised feature
(that's like a bug). In v 3.4 if you specify a total number of problems
less than 100, you may not get the full range of values. Version 3.5
fixes this for random order. For sorted problems, you still only get the
part of the range that fits within the total you ask for. Apologies.
The difference between v 3.5 and 3.6: Added CGA support. If FLASHCARD does
not sense full 640x480 VGA graphics, then it tries 320x200 CGA. Also changed
docs to reflect new address effective 1 July 1992:

NERVE MEDICINE FOR PARENTS:
If the sound drives you nuts and you don't want to turn it off with the
FLASHCFG utility: have the student type an M from the FLASHCARD menu.
It's not advertised, but this will "mute" the sound for the rest of that
session. Sound will not resume until the student exits from FLASHCARD and
restarts it from DOS or from the FLM menu.
NOTE TO CGA USERS ONLY:
The menu of colors doesn't support CGA very well, but with only four colors
in graphics, I hope you aren't too upset. To improve the look of the CGA
graphics, use the color menu to make the following changes:
Timer Bar: set to green on black
Completed problems: set to yellow (brown) on green
Current Problem: set to green on black
Problems to do: set to red on black
That's all folks
