This will dump all current opened files and arrays and return you to a new V-EDIT screen. "OLD" If you opened a file from the command line, the file name parameter is retained in DOS memory. Until you quit or use the "NEW" command, if you type upper case "OLD" and select the editor command you will always reload the original command line file, re- gardless of how many files were opened and edited in between. CONTROL Z ZAP! = Reduces the size of a 1 line file by 3 bytes, thereby removing the carriage return. ZAP! will not work on files larger than one line, nor on files that have been previously "Zapped" this is a built in safety feature. Your cursor must be inside the file spec box since ZAP! Is a function of the object in focus, not globally of Fcon.exe. CONTROL Z Once a file has been "Zapped" is will show up "CONT." in the file information box as invalid format this is because in order to read the number of lines in a file, the utility counts the number of carriage returns...None to count = invalid. When a file becomes an invalid format, it can no longer be opened, so you might to save your file with a backup copy for reediting purposes. M: LEFT CLICK ON SOURCE/TARGE(T) sets focus to file spec box LEFT CLICK Inside file spec box sets focus to itself LEFT DOWN DIRECTION Highlights text, for editing, see key commands, scrolls in respective direction. In the file spec box. Drawing is converted from ANSI, VBBS, PCB, or ASCII formats to the system format. Open looks for the occurrence of "" or "@X" ""; on the first page of the file in order to determine which format it should convert from. If it can not identify the format it opens and converts the file as though it was an ascii file and thus in ASCII format. Invalid format files, those with no carriage return characters can not be opened. Open also destroys any previous drawing you had in the V-EDIT, because it dumps the cur- rent arrays and redims to the new file size. Open also doubles as a file viewer, now the path is reset to previous path upon return- ing to filer. You will be prompted for safety. Note: You can not open the ANSI.TMP file unless it is only 1 page "24 lines" because the system erases this file before writing the second page of data to it. The PCB.TMP file can not be opened as well.You will get a warning message if you try this. SAVE Saves the current V-EDIT drawing as per save format to the current file spec. In the file spec box. You will be prompted in case of overwrite. APPEND Appends the current V-EDIT drawing as per append format to the current file spec. In the file spec box. VIEW Views the current V-EDIT drawing as per sel- ected format as an ASCII interpretation using extended DOS characters where found. The text is displayed in the ASCII VIEWER. EDITOR Returns to V-EDIT. CANCEL Resets drive, dir, file boxes to default specs cancels any operation. Does not release memory, or dump arrays. QUIT Quits, exits to dos in the last known default directory. If you used the included file: V.BAT to start V-EDIT, then V.BAT restores the prompt, deletes "MFMTA.DAT" and then exits to the system. ASCII VIEWER END ^ # Cursor must be inside viewer in MID POINTS # order to use viewer commands. # END v < #####################################> END MID POINTS END F: Displays V-EDIT drawing in respective view format, or opened file in ascii text and extended dos characters. K: All known text editor commands seem to work, list is endless so not verbosed. See below for special commands. M: Usual mousable scroll, select, click commands. Can click on scroll bars "ends" for slow scroll or "mid points" for fast scroll. SPECIAL KEY COMMANDS: SHIFT ARROWS Selects text CONTROL + C Copy selected text to clipboard, not cumulative CONTROL + P Paste selected text at cursor position CONTROL + L Print selected text, if none selected then print contents of ascii viewer box. CONTROL + V Puts: " @X " at end of current text, since and can not be typed in, but can be copied or pasted. CONTROL + W Widens viewer box from 44 to 80 "full screen width." Control + w again returns width to default size and re-enables covered objects. CONTROL + H Displays a message, reiterating above commands Note: All files displayed in the ASCII editor/viewer are capped off at 24k, so as not to crash the system and still leave adequate room for editing. Visual Basic text boxes only hold approximately 32k of data. If "[X] TXT ON" and file is over 30k then the text box will only display the first 3 pages, "72 lines" of the file. Why? Because 3 pages could easily be 24k, if maxed out. A "CHR$(10)" is automatically added to each line of text, so that when you save your file, it's not saved a one long screen. <(R)ENAME> [ ] T(X)T OFF < SAVE ASCI(I) > <SHEL(L) > <(M)AKE FONT > < DEF (F)ORMAT > < (K)ILL > < MAKE (D)IR > < TERMI(N)AL > F: COMMAND/CHECK BOX Executable commands as per description K: TAB, SHIFT TAB Set focus to next object, previous object ARROW KEYS Scroll through commands open - cancel in respective direction. SPACE BAR Selects command ENTER Selects command ALT + ACCESS KEY Selects command M: LEFT CLICK Selects command TXT OFF/ON Open ASCII selector ALT + X If this check box is on when you open an ascii file, then the contents of the file will be displayed in the viewer, and "TXT OFF/ON" will be reset to "TXT OFF." Must be on prior to opening. <SAVE ASCII> Saves the current contents of the ascii viewer ALT + I to a uniquely named file name in the current selected or default directory. <RENAME> Renames the file selected in the file spec box ALT + R Moves the file selected in the file spec box, if the name is a different directory spec than exists currently. Will not move across drives. Will not overwrite existing files. Can rename to a name outside of the limitation of DOS ie: "My file. 1" If you use embedded spaces file will be locked out from DOS, but "FCON.EXE" will be able to rename it again. This feature was included so that you may use it as a form of encryption. <SHELL> Opens a DOS shell and clears the screen, by ALT + L Calling the file "VSHELL.BAT." Upon typing "EXIT" and pressing enter, you will return to the File Manager. <MAKE FONT> Will determine if a valid PCB file exists, if ALT + M So, will open the file and replace all "@X" Codes with the font color symbol "≈". If the font file was opened as an ASCII file then the function will use the ANSI.TMP file instead of the PCB.TMP file. The new file is saved as "FMNFONT.00N" where "n" is a number one more than the previous number of font files in the "\VED" directory. On completion you will be prompted as to the success of the function. < DEF FORMAT > In the case that you don't want ansi to be the ALT + F default "save, append, view" format. Set what ever options you want, and press this function key. Then when ever you enter FCON these attri- butes will be reset to your new default sel- ections. < KILL FILE > Deletes current file in text file box, this ALT + K function will prompt you first. Deletes an empty directory. This command will prompt you for an input. EXAMPLES: myfile.dat Converts to full path spec. then deletes file. c:\myfile.dat Deletes file. c:\ Returns "INVALID SPEC." c:\myfiles\*.* Deletes all files in directory. c:\myfiles\ Deletes all files in directory. c:\myfiles\*.dat Deletes all files in directory, matching spec. c:\myfiles\?.dat Deletes all files in directory, matching spec. c:\myfiles Deletes directory, & all subs, & all files. Removes directory if empty. If the filename or directory is not found it will return "INVALID SPEC." < MKDIR > Creates directory, enter full path into prompt ALT + D box, press OK or CANCEL. < TERMINAL > Built in Terminal feature, calls out, connects, ALT + N ANSI, includes terminal window, uploads or downloads files to or from FCON. Full aux. prompts help messages. Uses X-MODEM CRC.
