PRINTSCR.REC September 1993 Matthew Lake
Page 300
----------------------------------------------------------------
Purpose: Windows Recorder Macro brings the function of DOS's
PrintScrn to Windows with a simple macro.
Remarks: For the macro to work, you must assign a keyboard
shortcut to switch to Program Manager. To make
Ctrl-Esc bring up Program Manager instead of the
Task List, for example, open SYSTEM.INI in SysEdit
or a text editor and add this line to the [Boot]
section:
TASKMAN.EXE=PROGMAN.EXE
Save your changes and then restart Windows.
Start by verifying the Options Menu's Control-Break
Checking, Shortcut Keys, and Minimize on Use items
are checked.
To use the macro, Recorder must be running in the
background with PRINTSCR.REC loaded. Press the
macro's shortcut keyboard shortcut (you'll need to
assign a shortcut key or open the .REC file with
Recorder to see what key is assigned) at any time
to print the current screen. Then, if you want to
save the image, choose Filef, Save from Paintbrush.
Otherwise you can exit Paintbrush without saving.
Note: Avoid leaving unsaved images open in Paint-
brush when you run PRINTSCR because the macro won't
run if Paintbrush prompts you to save a file.
To make Recorder launch automatically, place a copy
of its icon in the StartUp program group. Run
Recorder from this icon and open PRINTSCR.REC. Use
File Properties to make Recorder minimize on launch.
