  9.                                  WHAT IT IS
  10.  
  11.   StarSearcher is an easy to use contact management system designed for the
  12.   professional entertainer.  The Shareware version comes with a database of
  13.   500 industry contacts.  The registered version provides another 3500 con-
  14.   tacts.  StarSearcher provides appointment calendars, booking schedules, and
  15.   a simple text editor with mail merge capability from the contacts database.
  16.   STARSEARCHER was designed by a professional entertainer.

  18.                                 WHAT YOU NEED
  19.  
  20.   StarSearcher requires a 640 K IBM compatible computer with a hard drive.
  21.   While it may be run on an XT class machine, acceptable performance requires
  22.   a 10 MHZ 80286 or faster machince.  StarSearcher supports more than 100
  23.   printers. StarSearcher may be run on CGA/EGA/VGA or Hercules (tm) monitors.
  24.   A special VGA FONT is provided for VGA systems.

  26.                                INSTALLATION
  27.  
  28.   If you obtained StarSearcher on Disk it will be in a self extracting .EXE
  29.   file. Create a directory on your hard drive (Ie. C:\STAR) and then create
  30.   a sub-directory called \DATA. Copy the STAR.EXE file to the first (top)
  31.   directory. Run STAR.EXE and all files will be extracted. Copy all .DBF
  32.   files to the \DATA subdirectory, then erase them from the \STAR directory.

  34.   A  program called STARINST.EXE may be used to install StarSearcher on any
  35.   other drive/directory.

  37.                             RUNNING STARSEARCHER
  38.  
  39.   StarSearcher may be started by invoking one of two startup files. STAR.COM
  40.   should be used with CGA/EGA/or Hercules (tm) Monitors. STARVGA should be
  41.   used with VGA systems.  Do not use STARVGA on non-VGA systems.

  43.                                 REGISTRATION
  44.  
  45.   Registration is only 35$ US. The registered version provides a database of
  46.   an additional 3500 industry contacts. A registration form may be printed
  47.   from the UTILS menu in the Shareware version.

  49.                                 DISTRIBUTION
  50.  
  51.   The Registered version MAY NOT BE DISTRIBUTED TO UNREGISTERED USERS. The
  52.   Shareware version may be freely distributed as long as all of it's files
  53.   are kept intact and so long as no fee (beyond a nominal disk copying fee)
  54.   is charged.

  56.   SHAREWARE CATALOGS may  distribute StarSearcher provided the following
  57.   conditions are met.

  59.      1. Coston Dev. Corp. is notified so we can provide the latest version
  60.         and updates
  61.  
  62.      2. The Disk Fee is less than $6.00 and the fact that this DOES NOT
  63.         Constitute a registration fee are made clear in the catalog.
