  1. This database contains 5000 plus song titles and in many cases the names
  2. of their lyricist(s) and composer(s), as well as the year of publication.
  3. When an individual contributed to both the lyrics and the melody I have
  4. tried to enter W/M (Words/Music) after that individual's name.  Many of
  5. the records show an entry in a field for HITS BY.  This field lists a
  6. prominent artist who performed the song, although not necessarily the
  7. one who made the song a hit.

  9. This file was created first in PCFile, then later, more titles were
  10. added using the Alpha Four v2.0 database program.  The files should be
  11. compatible with the dBase database program and any other program that
  12. uses dBase files.

  14. I started keeping records on songs several years ago and then, when
  15. I acquired a computer, put the titles into a database and have added to
  16. it over the years.
