MPG Calculator v1.0

│ Installation │
└──────────────┘
*Note* MPGCALC.EXE is the only file needed to run the program.
Copy the file MPGCALC.EXE to a directory on your hard drive, or create
a new directory for it. You can put it in a directory that is in your path
so you can call it up no matter what directory you are in. It is well
suited to be run from a menu program(Suggested). It can also be run from a
floppy disk.
┌──────────────┐
│ Instructions │
└──────────────┘
Every time you fill up your gas tank, write down:
1. The odometer reading.
2. The number of gallons of gasoline you purchased.
It is highly recommended that you keep a log of your odometer reading and
gallons of gas purchased each time you fill up. You will need the previous
and current odometer readings each time you use the program.
You can and should include fractions to obtain accurate results,
for example:
Odometer reading: 25687.7
Gallons gas purchased: 10.9
If you currently do not track your MPG, then you will need to wait until
you have 2 sets of readings before using MPG Calculator.
When you are ready to input the data for calculation start the program
by typing MPGCALC and hitting <ENTER> or selecting it from your menu
program, whichever applies.
You will be prompted to enter the following 3 items of data:
1. Current Odometer Reading...........from current fill-up
2. Previous Odometer Reading..........from previous fill-up
3. Gallons of Gas Purchased...........from current fill-up
*NOTE* If you started the program, but decide not to continue, then
enter a 0(zero) in the Current Odometer Reading field and hit <ENTER>.
This is the only way to terminate the program early until I learn a
different way.
Enter each reading, followed by the <ENTER> key. The program will do the
calculations and then display the Miles driven and the MPG. I suggest
keeping a log of your fuel economy so that you can see if there are any
major changes that may alert you to a potential problem that can be fixed
before it becomes too serious. This can also help you to track which
grade of gasoline will give you the best gas mileage for your money.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, a log might be a nice addition...

│ Known Bugs │
└────────────┘
There are only 2 known bugs, that really aren't bugs as much as I just
haven't yet learned how to incorporate them yet. However, they will be in
a later version. They are:
1. If you type numbers longer than the data fields, it will keep going past
the field. However, there should be no need to extend past the fields as
I made sure there is enough room.
2. You can not tab through fields. You must press the <ENTER> key after
inputting the data in each field.
