Introduction
------------
Welcome to the latest update of the Halton/Hamilton-Wentworth regions
BBS list. Every BBS in this list was called so as to ensure the greatest
degree of accuracy possible. However, due the fickle nature of our hobby
all BBS information provided is subject to change after the date of this
release.
The following guidelines were used for compiling the listings:
1. Each system was called during a two week period immediately prior
to the list release date until a connection was established. It
was up and taking calls at that time if it is included in the list.
2. The information provided for each entry is based either on personal
observation or on info supplied by the BBS itself.
3. If you know of a BBS not included in the list that you think should
be, perhaps one of the following is applicable.
A BBS would NOT be included in the list for any of the following
reasons:
- Number out of service, no alternate number provided.
- The line rang with no answer during the two week period.
- The system was busy during the two week period, day and night.
Note: Several rounds of "marathon" calling for an hour at a time
are done on these systems at various times of the day and night.
- The line was answered by a voice, not a modem.
- Could not connect to the system due to remote technical problems.
Several attempts were made over the two week period.
Getting Started
---------------
The list comes in five formats, as listed above. The first can be viewed
using any text viewer, the LIST.COM program or the DOS command "Type".
The others are the same list compiled in the dialing directory format of
four popular terminal programs. These files can be renamed to anything
desired (keeping the .fon extension) and installed in the appropriate
terminal program for convenient dialing directory usage.
Note:
If you are using a newer version of one of these packages you MAY need to
convert the .FON file to the updated version. See the documentation of the
terminal package you are using for complete information about installing
dialing directories.
WARNING: TAKE CARE NOT TO OVERWRITE YOUR EXISTING .FON FILES WHEN INSTALLING!
