  5. ║          Dear Jesus, I've forgotten how to fly.                         ║

  7. ║          My dreams have crumbled in the night.                          ║
  8. ║          Surrounded by purple ranks of boredom and sloth                ║
  9. ║          I've surrendered to sleep and fantasy,                         ║
  10. ║          Guilt-ridden and numb,                                         ║
  11. ║          I nod acquiescence                                             ║
  12. ║          To their sluggish onslaught.                                   ║
  13. ║                                                                         ║
  14. ║          Forgive my selfish prayers, Lord,                              ║
  15. ║          For they echo a tired litany of lust and wants                 ║
  16. ║          That I make no move to fulfill on my own.                      ║
  17. ║          I scream for sunshine while locked in my room                  ║
  18. ║          Pounding on a door, that I make no effort                      ║
  19. ║          To open.                                                       ║
  20. ║                                                                         ║
  21. ║          How can I see so clearly,                                      ║
  22. ║          But still fail to act?                                         ║
  23. ║          Precious Jesus, I've forgotten how to fly.                     ║
  24. ║                                                                         ║
  25. ║          No more shall I ask for love                                   ║
  26. ║          To be handed to me like a prize                                ║
  27. ║          For suffering endured.                                         ║
  28. ║          I will not find her that way.                                  ║
  29. ║          Instead,                                                       ║
  30. ║          I beg for strength,                                            ║
  31. ║          To be able to stand up, and find what I need,                  ║
  32. ║          On my own.                                                     ║
  33. ║                                                                         ║
  34. ║          My saviour, teach me how to fly.                               ║
