  3.                  Bondwell 12/14 Format Programs

  6. The two programs in this library, BWKPFMT.COM and BWOSFMT.COM, are to allow
  7. formatting of a blank or unused disk to Kaypro II (BWKPFMT) or Osborne I
  8. Double Density (BWOSFMT) formats.  They are for use on Bondwell 12 and 14
  9. computers only, running the standard Bondwell BIOS.  They examine a byte in
  10. BIOS memory at BIOS + 33H, to check for the drive being properly set to the
  11. format being done.  If it is not, the program will give an error
  12. indication, and invite you to change the format of the drive with the
  13. Bondwell supplied SETUP.COM program.

  15. These formats have been tested on the Bondwell 12 and 12A, and on Kaypro
  16. and Osborne computers, and they have been able to be written to and read
  17. from successfully.  If you have any problems, there is a possibility that
  18. the setting for Gap 3 is not completely correct; it is based on the best
  19. information that I had available.  The setting in the program for Gap 3 on
  20. the Kaypro is 39H presently, and for the Osborne it is 6BH.  If you want to
  21. try a different Gap 3, the byte to change is located at 03C5.

  23. As currently set-up, these programs cannot be modified to format any other
  24. than those that they are set to, due to the error checking that is built
  25. into them.
