  3. You will find both a Turbo Pascal 3.01A and a Basic version of the
  4. IRA Calculator.

  6. The Basic version uses double precision so has more digits of accuracy.
  7. BELIEVE IT OR NOT the basic version runs about 1.5 times FASTER than the
  8. Turbo Pascal version.
  9.  
  10. This calculation only adds interest at the end of the year and expects
  11. that the money is in the account for the full year.
  12.  
  13. For the interest rate select a rate you HOPE will be an average rate you
  14. will obtain.  If you only want to see what one account will earn after a
  15. # of years then only enter an amount of an initial investment.  If you
  16. plan on opening an IRA every year until retirement then enter the amount
  17. at the yearly investment prompt.

  19. Try playing with the interest rate. you will see that when long periods
  20. of time are involved minor changes in the rate can make large changes
  21. in the final amount.
