  3. Welcome to the Walnut Creek Visions CDROM, July 1994 edition!
  4.  
  5. This disc contains 500 stock photographs and images which can be used
  6. without royalties!  The pictures contained within come in 640x480 and
  7. 800x600 resolutions, and are also categorized into subjects.

  11. Here is a list of important files and directories:

  13. go.bat              Batch file that lists the readme.txt file (MS-DOS)
  14. view.exe            Program to view and copy files on the disc (MS-DOS)
  15.  
  16. 00_index.txt        Description of all of the files on this CDROM
  17. 00_index.gz         GZipped copy of index.txt
  18. 00_index.zip        Zipped copy of index.txt

  39. Each of the directories within images/* contain two directories 
  40. 640x480\ and 800x600\ which contain pictures in those respective
  41. resolutions.

  44.             USING THE VIEW PROGRAM
  45.  
  46. To use this disc, merely change drives to your CD-ROM drive, then type
  47. "VIEW" in the root directory of the CD-ROM drive, then press enter.
  48. The VIEW program will then display a listing of the subdirectories and
  49. their description on the disc.  Use the cursor keys to move the
  50. highlight bar up and down the screen, then press ENTER to change into
  51. any of the subdirectories.  The VIEW program will then display a list
  52. of files within that particular subdirectory.  (To return back to the
  53. subdirectory listing, press the ESCAPE key.)
  54.  
  55. While in the list of files, the VIEW program can let you read a text
  56. file, uncompress a zipped file, or copy a file onto another drive.
  57.  
  58. To read a text file, merely position the highlight bar onto the line
  59. with the filename you wish to read, then press ENTER.  While reading
  60. the document, if you wish to search for a string, press either the "S"
  61. key, CONTROL-S (type "S" while holding down the Control key), or F9
  62. then enter the string for which you wish to search.  For further
  63. occurrences of the string, merely press the S key, CONTROL-S, or F9
  64. key.  You may do reverse searches by pressing R, CONTROL-R, or F10 in
  65. the same manner.

  67. To uncompress a zipped file, position the highlight bar onto the line
  68. with the filename you wish to uncompress, then press ENTER.  The
  69. screen will change to ask you to where you wish to uncompress the
  70. file, the default being a directory on your C: drive.  If you wish,
  71. you may edit this destination box.  Press ENTER to begin uncompressing
  72. the file, or press ESCAPE to abort.  After uncompressing, you will
  73. have the option to either exit out to the directory to which the VIEW
  74. program uncompressed the file, or to return to the menu; if you decide
  75. to return the menu, be sure to remember to where the file was
  76. uncompressed!

  78. To copy a file, position the highlight bar onto the line with the wish
  79. to copy, then press ENTER.  The screen will change to ask you to where
  80. you wish to copy the file, the default being a directory on your C:
  81. drive.  If you wish, you may edit this destination box.  Press ENTER
  82. to copy the file, or press ESCAPE to abort.  After copying, you will
  83. have the option to either exit out to the directory to which the VIEW
  84. program copied the file, or to return to the menu; if you decide to
  85. return the menu, be sure to remember to where the file was copied!

  89. This disk conforms to the level 1, ISO-9660 format.  All the filenames
  90. are limited to eight single-case characters, with an extension of up
  91. to three characters.  Most directories have an index file named
  92. 00_index.txt that contains a description of each file in the
  93. directory.
