- BBS Description
-
- Test scoring by quality and quantity for contest winners.
-
- Short Program Description
-
- OLYMPIAD selects high quality winners for scholarships. It can
- also be used for other contests. Winners must be able to not only
- know or do, but to also have confidence in their knowledge and skill.
- OLYMPIAD scores for both quality and quantity. This almost eliminates
- ties. Maximum limits are 500 tests, 100 questions per test, and 100
- schools or groups. A set of 25 to 100 multiple-choice questions can
- be used. Results include individual, team of three, and group or
- school winners. Instructions and sample data are built in.
-
-
- Detailed Program Description
-
- Purpose: Multiple-choice (not multiple-guess) contest scoring by
- quality and quantity for individual winners and for teams of the
- top three contestants in each school or group.
-
- Features: Students select questions to report what in their own
- judgment they KNOW or can do. This requires the same preparation
- and levels of thinking needed to answer good essay questions.
-
- Existing machine scorable test questions can be used. Non-scored
- information items can be inserted at any point in the test.
-
- Maximum limits are 100 questions, 500 tests, and 100 schools or
- groups.
-
- Output includes ranked individual winners, ranked school or group
- by team of top three contestants and by all contestants in each
- school or group. Analyses include an item analysis, histogram,
- graph of individual scores and of average scores for each school
- or group.
-
- Instructions and sample test data are built into the program.
- Test data can be examined for card reader errors and cheating.
-
- OLYMPIAD has been used from 1986 to 1992 to award scholarships
- at Northwest Missouri State Unviersity. Using both quantity and
- quality to select winners makes the program unique.
