- Version 2.0 was more flexible than version 1.0. It allowed the user
- to configure to data file to specify the maximum number of players scores
- to save. It also saves the data in a much smaller file (more efficient
- save format. (Unfortunately, this format is not compatible with the
- format for version 1.0, so data must be reentered from scratch.) Version
- 2.0 also had various extra features and options, too numerous to mention.
- Version 2.1 of Golfhandicapper corrects a bug in version 2.0. This bug
- caused the program to delete all players over 100 when you deleted any
- player using the "Delete player" option. Version 2.1 also gives you the
- option of aborting the emergency save of data if something goes wrong
- during a program run (in version 2.0, the emergency save of all data
- was manditory if there was a program crash). Version 2.1 also saves
- score data in an even more efficient format, allowing for smaller SCR
- files. Version 2.1 can still read the files created by version 2.0, so
- there is no need to reenter data.
- Version 2.2 improves the hardcopy printout to give more efficient
- use of paper (more data per page, less wasted paper).
- Version 2.3 removes a restriction on the values of golf scores to
- allow individual users to decide if they want such restrictions. It also
- improves hardcopy printout efficiency even more.
- Version 2.4 fixes a bug created by the printout improvement in 2.3.
- Version 2.5 fixes a bug that can cause the "Low score this season" to
- be attributed to the wrong player under a rare combination of
- circumstances. It also speeds up disk I/O and the player name sort.
- Version 3.0 provides players with the ability to change the course
- rating when they enter a score. This allows the players to play on
- different courses and create a cumulative handicap.
- Version 3.1 fixes a few bugs in version 3.0.
- Version 3.2 fixes a bug in version 3.1.
- Version 4.0 uses the slope method, to bring it into compliance
- with current USGA procedures. There is also a small change in the input
- fields, so that the program does not automatically go to the next field
- when a field is full (has had the maximum number of characters input).
- This solves the problem of people accidentally pressing ENTER on an
- empty field because the program went to that field automatically when
- the previous field was full. Note: Data files from previous versions of
- Golf Handicapper are NOT compatible with Golf Handicapper version 4.0.
- If you are upgrading from a previous version to version 4.0, you should
- print out a hard copy of all your data before installing version 4.0.
- You will then nbeed to type in all the previous data manually.
