  2.             Newsletter 1 -  Fish and Hunting Expert Users

  4.   Users of the Fish and Hunting Expert Programs recommend some interesting
  5.   ways to use the Fish and Hunting Programs, and we pass them along to you.
  6.  
  7.   Professional fisherman keep a lot of records, and this helps makes them 
  8.   very successful.  The logs bring the power and ease of the computer 
  9.   to this important activity.  You accumulate successful trends and
  10.   make better use of your time.
  11.   
  12.   Have a neighborhood, company, or church parish accumulate information
  13.   in the logs.  You really get a good scouting report which should
  14.   enable everyone to do well in fishing and hunting.  The group accumulates
  15.   recipes and shares important safety information as well.

  17.   Companies can put the fishing and hunting programs on a network (they do 
  18.   need a network license from us).  The company then distributes the safety
  19.   information, recipes, and scouting info to all employees.  This helps 
  20.   employee morale tremendously as all company users accumulate and share 
  21.   hunting and fishing information.

  23.   A father can easily pass along lake and other information accumulated
  24.   over a lifetime to his son(s).  Church parishes and firms also have
  25.   a valuable pool information which they retain from generation to 
  26.   generation.

  28.   Use of the F3 Search key in the logs and library gets you to a topic
  29.   you want instantly.  No more searching for that packing list and
  30.   items on it.

  32.   The training a youngster receives using the programs develops
  33.   computer skills and knowledge he someday will need in his job or 
  34.   profession.

  36.   By the way some Iowa school system hunter education instructors 
  37.   recommend this program in their hunter education classes!

  39.   Users really have recognized the importance of the scouting log in your
  40.   hunt.  Scouting is a vital activity and the log captures this information
  41.   easily.  When after big bucks you need to record the size of bucks 
  42.   visually sighted and their sheds of antlers to confirm the existence
  43.   of that big buck you will get next season.  (We plan to add substantially
  44.   to the hunting program to cover more scouting technique)

  46.   If you have a recipe log or a scouting log for an area and wish to 
  47.   share them, please send it along to us and we will make it available
  48.   via this newsletter.

  50.   In the logs turning off the INSERT makes entry easier sometimes.
  51.   Turn it off or on by toggling the Insert key.
  52.   
  53.   Also use the TAB key to TAB over to certain areas.

  55.   Convert some logs to check lists by turning the insert off and
  56.   putting an X in the leftmost column
  57.   
  58.   If you use Compuserve or any other Computer Service which lists
  59.   recipes or other messages, then you easily save important
  60.   recipes and messages to the appropriate log using the F9 key
  61.   to import the message or portions of the messages after having
  62.   saved them from the Computer Service.  For example, if you use
  63.   Compuserve and access it using the TAPCIS program you save 
  64.   Outdoor Forum messages in a file called either Outdoor.msg or
  65.   Outdoor.sav.  Press the F9 Key after in a logs and give
  66.   this file name (include any path); pick which portions of the
  67.   messages you want using the F9 key at the beginning and end
  68.   of the messages you want and you have easily saved and stored
  69.   important messages for future use.

  71.   You capture valuable information from hunting and fishing TV
  72.   programs, videos, seminars, etc. by creating an added log from
  73.   the extra or blank log.  Then while or after you view a lecture
  74.   or rented video, enter the key points in the log so you
  75.   have the key points permanently at your finger tips.

  77.   We updated the hunting data base for version 4 to include the latest
  78.   information on whitetail hunting and it has much more information and
  79.   some new conditions.

  88.      a free upgrade if we include it on our list.

  95.    NEXT VERSION - Graphics!

  97.    We are already planning the next versions and it will include more 
  98.    data base material in the expert system, more library information, and 
  99.    even more Log Applications (send us your idea for a Log Application Key
  100.    and get a free upgrade if chosen).  We also tentatively plan to use
  101.    Microsoft Windows to give you some graphics uses.  For Example,
  102.    Hunting Maps, Lake Charts, etc..  Unfortunately we could not implement
  103.    a graphics function in the current versions with high enough quality 
  104.    to make it really useful to you.
