SHANNON FAULKNER knew life as the Citadel's first female cadet wouldn't be easy. Last week, U.S. District Judge C. Weston Houck ruled that when she joins the Citadel's corps of cadets under court order, the South Carolina military college may shave her head, as it shaves the head of every new student. It also, he said, can assign the 19-year-old to a room in the 80-bed infirmary with no lock on the door. Unless court orders change, Faulkner is scheduled to become a cadet next Monday.
