PORTLAND, Ore. -- Jeff Gillooly, former husband of U.S. figure skating champion Tonya Harding, was arrested Wednesday and charged with planning the attack that injured Nancy Kerrigan, Harding's Olympic teammate.
Also, in an affidavit, Harding's bodyguard Shawn Eckardt says Harding called a rink in Cape Cod, Mass., to find out Kerrigan's practice schedule.
It's the first time Harding's name has been mentioned in court papers concerning the planning of the attack.
According to the affidavit, it was to take place in the Boston area where Kerrigan lives.
But the attack came Jan. 6 at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Detroit.
Harding's lawyers said she categorically denies Eckardt's allegations: "We note that none of the comments are directly attributable to Tonya.
" We believe Mr. Eckardt's lack of credibility is already well documented," they said.
Gillooly, 26, was arraigned on a charge of conspiracy to commit second-degree assault.
Regarding Harding's status at next month's Olympics, "we are still in a wait-and-see position," said Mike Moran of the U.S. Olympic Committee.
Skating officials vote next week on whether to keep her on the team.
