LOS ANGELES -- F. Lee Bailey, a new addition to O.J. Simpson's high-powered defense team, said Sunday his client has a solid alibi and will not use an insanity defense.
Bailey, on NBC's Face the Nation and CNN's Late Edition, also blasted the media and called the prosecution tactic of publicly discussing the case "among the shabbiest I have ever seen."
He said unless DNA tests on blood samples link Simpson to the crime, "police had better get busy opening the investigation they may have prematurely closed."
The controversy over leaked evidence also was heightened by even more leaked evidence. A coroner's investigative report circulating Sunday:
-- Describes both victims as fully dressed when their bodies were discovered. Previous reports had described them in various states of undress.
-- Contradicts reports that the sunglasses Ronald Goldman returned to Nicole Simpson were hers; the glasses - found in an envelope by his body - were her mother's.
-- Says Nicole Simpson's mother talked with her at 11: 00 p.m., just 15 minutes before O.J. Simpson climbed into a limousine at his home, a 10-minute drive from her condo.
-- Makes no mention of a bloody glove, evidence leaked early in the case.
The first official accounting of the evidence comes at a preliminary hearing Thursday. Simpson has pleaded innocent in the killings of his ex-wife, Nicole, and her friend Goldman.
One of the most controversial actions by officials connected with the case was the release of a tape of a 911 call made by Nicole Simpson after O.J. Simpson broke in a door to her home in October 1993.
Over the weekend, The Associated Press released an electronically enhanced version of the tape in which Simpson responds to his wife's plea to leave by saying, "I'm leaving with my two fists is when I'm leaving." But he also says, "No use in me hitting you."
