  1. Crack> Pool of Radiance by SSI

  5.      Requirements:
  6. PC-Tools or Norton Utilities
  7.      I was getting really annoyed at the copy
  8. protection with this game, so I got out my sector
  9. editor and started poking around.  Eventually I
  10. found the answer.
  11.      First install the program normally by unarcing
  12. it onto your hard drive or 7 floppies.
  13.  
  14.      *Note:* I had absolutely no luck unarcing it onto
  15. floppies.  It took me an hour and didn't even run!
  16. (But, it did install to the hard drive O.K.)  Part of
  17. the install is configuring the program for your
  18. system.
  19.  
  20.      Once you have the program installed:
  21.  
  22. 1. Find the file named START.EXE and rename
  23. it to something else like STARTBAK.EXE.
  24.  
  25. 2. Copy the file STARTBAK.EXE to
  26. START.EXE.  This renames the original and
  27. makes the copy the executable program.
  28.  
  29. 3. Using PC-Tools VIEW-EDIT mode or Norton
  30. Utilities Hex Editor, call up the file
  31. START.EXE.
  32.  
  33. 4. Find the 13 following words with the Hex-
  34. Editor and change each one to HAHAHA (or
  35. any 6 Capital letters - not lowercase!) and save
  36. the changes to disk in the file START.EXE:

  39. >>>words you find to Hex 00.  Then, just press
  40. >>>'enter' when asked for the code check.

  43. BEWARE, ZOMBIE, NOTNOW, COPPER, DRAGON, EFREET,
  44. FRIEND, JUNGLE, KNIGHT, SAVIOR, TEMPLE, VULCAN,
  45. WYVERN

  47. 5. When you enter the program and are asked for
  48. the code from the Translation Wheel, type
  49. HAHAHA and you're in!
  50.  
  51.      That's all there is to it.  It is understood, of
  52. course, that this unprotect is only to be used by
  53. legitimate owners of the game - who have tired o
  54. spinning that &%@# code wheel!
