  7. Using no special copying utility, simply copy all the files from the
  8. distribution (or even a copy of the distribution disk) onto a newly formatted
  9. floppy, or your hard disk if you wish.
  10.  
  11. Using an absolute disk editor or file byte editor(HADES from HUG is excellent
  12. for this purpose!), search the file named in quotes for the indicated string
  13. of bytes. Replace the byte in the top line with the indicated byte or bytes
  14. in the bottom line. Change or replace NO other bytes! Now make these changes
  15. permanant in the file on your disk. Now run the program as you normally would.
  16. You can copy the games to any disk you like now! Have fun!

  29. Search the file 1MENU1.OVL for the following byte sequences, and replace
  30. the indicated bytes with the ones shown.

  49.              How to remove the copy protection from
  50.                         Might and Magic.

  56.                              NEEDED:
  57. 1. Norton Utilities (or similar program)
  58. 2. A copy of the file MM.EXE from your original disk.
  59. 3. A bit of your time

  63. 1. HOW TO UNPROTECT MIGHT AND MAGIC:
  64. First load the file MM.EXE into Norton.
  65. Then search for the string CD 13 72 EE.
  66. Change these bytes to 90 90 90 90.
  67. Write the changes.
  68. Next search for the string CD 13 72 05.
  69. Change these bytes to 90 90 90 90.
  70. Write the changes.
  71. Next search for the string CD 13 72 05.
  72. Change the CD 13 to 90 90 and the 72 05 to EB 05.
  73. A few bytes after this is a 75 F6, change these bytes to 90 90.
  74. you will have to do this 4 more times here are the jumps to look
  75. for: 75 20, 75 18, 75 10, 75 08. These will all be 7 bytes apart,
  76. change them all to 90's.
  77. Once again their will be another jump 7 bytes after the last one
  78. you changed (74 03), change it to EB 03.
  79. Write the changes.

  82. The program will now skip the check for copy protection all
  83. together.

  85. If you have any problems with any of the patches above check the
  86. date of the file MM.EXE on your original disk 1 for the date
  87. 11/18/87. If your file has a different date then they probably
  88. changed the copy protection method and your out of luck with this
