  2.           BROKEN SPOKES
  3.      If  you have  a broken spoke,
  4. simply replace it before you align
  5. the  wheel.  On  a  wheel  from  a
  6. derailleur equipped bike, you will
  7. need   to  remove   the  freewheel
  8. first.
  9.      On the road  you may not have
  10. replacement  spokes  available. If
  11. an  accident  has  ruined  several
  12. spokes in one  section of a wheel,
  13. you can redistribute the remaining
  14. spokes to hold  the wheel together
  15. long enough to get to a bike shop.
  16. You  can  even  use  a  couple  of
  17. spokes form the other wheel.

  21.      On the  road, if a  spoke has
  22. broken  near  the   hub,  you  can
  23. loosen it, bend it around a nearby
  24. crossing   of  spokes,   and  then
  25. retighten it. This spoke will then
  26. be able to continue to support the
  27. rim  until  you  can  replace  the
  28. spoke.
