3. GETTING STARTED
3.1 PROGRAM INSTALLATION
FLOPPY DISK : To play from a Floppy Disk, copy all files to a floppy
disk, and at the DOS prompt type VC <Enter>. This will load the
program in memory.
HARD DISK : to install on a Hard Disk simply create a directory
and copy all files from the floppy disks to that directory of the
Hard disk. The following example assumes your Hard Disk is C and
your Floppy is Drive A. Type the following :
C: ( Change current drive to C )
MD C:\VGACON ( Create VGACON subdirectory )
CD C:\VGACON ( Change directory )
( Insert floppy disk in drive A )
COPY A:\*.* C:\VGACON ( Copy files to Hard disk )
( Repeat above step for disk # 2)
To start the program simply type VC <Enter>.
4. OPERATION
GENERAL : If you plan to use the mouse, the mouse driver must be
loaded before running VC. The program displays information at the
bottom of the screen whenever a new event takes place.
After you have typed VC <Enter> a list of different VGA cards will
be displayed. Use the arrow keys to move the highlighted bar to your
VGA card or an Equivalent one and press <Enter>. Then select a
pointing device : Keyboard or Mouse and press <Enter>. Please note
that when using the keyboard, the "NUM LOCK" key must be OFF.

The very first time you run the program it will try to save the above
choices in a configuration file called VC.CFG, so next time you run
the program it will read this file back and know what VGA card you
have and what is your pointing device preference. If the current disk
is write-protected you will get a "Write Protect Error Message",
simply unprotect the disk and retry. Now you are ready to start.
MENUS : When using the mouse, click on the left button to select
items, click on the right button to skip a selection.
When using the keyboard, use the arrow keys to move around, press the
<SPACEBAR> or the <Enter> key to select menu items, press <ESC> to
exit from the menu selection. The main menu is accessible by
pressing the key corresponding to the first letter of the menu
selection, that is press the H key for HELP, P for PICTURES, O
for OPTIONS and Q to QUIT . ( Also <ESC> will work instead of Q )
TO START : After you have selected VGA card and pointing device the
program will start. Please note that files VC0256.VL ,
VC0256.LST, VC016.VL and VC016.LST must be present in your current
disk and directory.
