  5.     SPECIAL NOTE: SPELLING TUTOR NOT DATE-LIMITED.  NO "TIME WORMS"!
  6.          This is the second release of version 2.10 as some persons 
  7.     mistook the phrase "time-worn device" (used as a joke in the 
  8.     previous versions of the Spelling Tutor) as "time-worm device" and 
  9.     thought that the Spelling Tutor would perform damage if used 
  10.     beyond the evaluation period.  The text has now been removed.  The 
  11.     shareware version of the Spelling Tutor will and ALWAYS HAS  
  12.     continued to work after the license period has expired while 
  13.     reminding you to please register.

  18.      The ability of Teacher to Delete files has been added to the
  19.      File Manager.

  21.                             LONGER WORD LENGTHS!
  22.           Word lengths of up to 36 characters are now allowed which
  23.      will enable tutoring on multiple word constructions such as those
  24.      found in legal vocabularies.  When the word length is set to
  25.      greater than 15, however, the use of the "Smileys" are disabled 
  26.      as their movement would interfere with the display of long words.  
  27.      In addition, word search puzzle creation is disabled as well, 
  28.      when the maximum word length exceeds 15 characters, longer 
  29.      lengths could exceed puzzle dimensions.

  31.                   SHUFFLE THE ORDER OF WORDS WITHIN A SET!
  32.           You can now shuffle the order of the words within a given
  33.      set while the sets are displayed in the Spelling Tutor.  This
  34.      allows you to refresh the order in which the words are presented
  35.      in cases where a set is used for tutoring multiple times.

  38.           To express our deep gratitude to those of you who have taken
  39.      the time to register your copy of The Spelling Tutor, we wanted
  40.      to give you something special that would in some measure, show
  41.      our appreciation.  For that reason, a wonderful new feature has
  42.      been added to the Registered version of the Spelling Tutor.  Now,
  43.      each time you complete a word set, you can create and send to
  44.      your printer a Word Search Puzzle consisting of each word from
  45.      that set.  This is a splendid way to reinforce the memory image
  46.      of the word gained through working in the Tutor!  In order to
  47.      search for a word pattern in a grid of random letters, one must
  48.      of necessity concentrate on the image of the word!  Not only does
  49.      it encourage the student to retain the image of the word, it does
  50.      so in an entertaining and challenging way!
  51.           If you register under Option 3, you will receive our new
  52.      stand alone program, "The SPELLBOUND! Word Search Creator".  (See
  53.      SPELL.DOC for details.)  This is in addition to the other
  54.      premiums, The SPELLBOUND! Director, The BothSides Text Formatter,
  55.      latest version of the Spelling Tutor, and the additional word
  56.      lists.  If you are only interested in ordering the Word Search

  62.            AUTOMATIC REGISTRATION FOR PREVIOUS REGISTERED USERS!
  63.           The INSTALL program will transfer your registration from
  64.      your old version in the 2.xx series to the new copy when you
  65.      install the new version over the old one.  Do not delete your old
  66.      installation as this will destroy your old registration.
  67.           Be sure you have a backup of your registered version in case
  68.      something should go wrong.  The INSTALL program will make the
  69.      transfer and delete all program files from the previous version.
  70.      If you have modified your copies of SPELL.WDS, GRADE2.WDS, or
  71.      GRADE3.WDS, be sure to make backups as the INSTALL program will
  72.      overwrite these with the new versions.
  73.           Your records, reports, default configuration etc. will all
  74.      be preserved for use by the new version!
  75.           We want you to possess a registered copy of the new Spelling
  76.      Tutor without having to pay an additional upgrade fee!  We REALLY 
  77.      appreciate your support!

  79.      IMMEDIATE CONVERSION TO REGISTERED VERSION BY PHONE!

  82.      converted to the registered version immediately if you wish by

  84.      running on your computer.  This will remove all shareware screens

  99.      REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLATION
  100.           The SPELLBOUND! Spelling Tutor requires 384k free memory,
  101.      DOS 3.00 or above, CGA, EGA, or VGA monitor (or Hercules (R) card
  102.      with a CGA simulation program), two floppy disk drives OR one of
  103.      the following single drive systems: Hard drive, 720k floppy,
  104.      1.2meg floppy, 1.44meg floppy.

  106.      PRINTING THE DOCUMENTATION
  107.           To print out the documention for "The SPELLBOUND! Spelling
  108.      Tutor", install the program according to the directions given in
  109.      this documentation.  Once you have started the program, press F1
  110.      to bring up context-sensitive help.  Press F1 once again to bring
  111.      up the documentation in the file viewer.  Press F9 to print the
  112.      file being displayed, in this case, SPELL.DOC.  Enter your
  113.      parallel printer port number when prompted.   Make sure you have
  114.      about 45 sheets of paper.
  115.           To print this file now, enter the following command from the
  116.      DOS prompt:  COPY README.1ST PRN <Press ENTER>

  118.      READING THE DOCUMENTATION FROM WITHIN THE SPELLING TUTOR
  119.           To read the documentation online, Press F1 once to bring up
  120.      context sensitive help.  While the help box is displayed, press
  121.      F1 once more.  The file viewer will immediately display
  122.      SPELL.DOC.  SPELL.DOC must be in the PROGRAM or DATA directory.
  123.      Press F9 to print it.

  125.      PREPARING THE INSTALL DISKETTE FOR INSTALLATION TO FLOPPY DISKS
  126.           The INSTALL program requires the availability of
  127.      "COMMAND.COM" (your command interpreter).  If you do not have a
  128.      hard drive or you boot your computer from drive A:, you will need
  129.      to copy "COMMAND.COM" from your DOS "System" disk to the Spelling
  130.      Tutor installation diskette before proceeding with the
  131.      installation.
  132.           If installing to floppies, COMMAND.COM will be automatically
  133.      copied to your PROGRAM diskette by the INSTALL program as well,
  134.      so that the transient portion of COMMAND.COM can be refreshed
  135.      when terminating the Spelling Tutor.  This prevents the message,
  136.      "Insert disk with COMMAND.COM into drive A: and press any key".
  137.      This will enable you to make use of an external editor in
  138.      addition to allowing you to SHELL to Dos from within the program.
  139.           If in rare circumstances you are not using COMMAND.COM,
  140.      substitute the command interpreter for the operating system you
  141.      are using.  If you are unsure, type: "SET" at the Dos prompt and
  142.      press ENTER.  Look for the words: "COMSPEC=".  The file name to
  143.      the right of the equal sign is the name and path to your command
  144.      interpreter.
