  3.                          The Danger of Kingdom Now

  7.     One of the great dangers facing us at this time, is the
  8. doctrine becoming popular in the churches known as "Kingdom Now,
  9. Dominion Theology, or Reconstructionism."  
  10.  
  11. According to this view, the Church replaces Israel
  12. as the people of G-d.  Israel is disenfranchised by
  13. G-d and all its promises from G-d are transferred to the Church.
  14.  
  15. Christians are encouraged to stop supporting
  16. Israel, and rather become involved in "taking the
  17. world for Jesus."  This view of the Church frightens me for
  18. several reasons.  There have been several times in the past when
  19. the Church has claimed to be the "New Israel."  Personally, I
  20. don't care what people think they are, but the problem that
  21. concerns me, is what do they do with "Old Israel?"   
  22.  
  23.   According to Kingdom Now theology, the Jewish people are all
  24. but cast off by G-d and have no value or future to look forward
  25. to.  They are cursed by G-d.  This is the view held by the
  26. crusaders in the Middle Ages.  Because they believed the Jewish
  27. people were cursed by G-d, they didn't have any reservations
  28. about killing them "in the NAME OF JESUS."  While some christians
  29. and church leaders denounced the killing of Jewish people, it was
  30. too little too late.  People were butchered in Jesus' Name.  It
  31. was this same brand of theology, in the name of German
  32. Christianity during the holocaust that prepared the way for the
  33. Nazi destruction.

  35.     There are several theological problems with Kingdom Now: 
  36. First, it ignores the promises of G-d to the Jewish people.  In
  37. Romans 11, Paul says,  
  38.  
  39.         I say then, Has G-d cast away his people? G-d forbid.
  40.           ... G-d has not cast away his people whom he foreknew. 
  41.           ... As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your
  42.           sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved
  43.           for the fathers' sakes. ... For the gifts and calling
  44.           of G-d are irrevocable.  
  45.  
  46.     The point of these verses are that the Jewish people are NOT
  47. the enemies of believers.  They are against the Gospel, in that
  48. they have reacted negatively to it, as most unbelievers have, but
  49. they are not the enemies of believers... they have turned from
  50. the Gospel... that it might go to the Gentiles.  At the same
  51. time, THEY ARE BELOVED for the fathers sakes.  G-d loves the
  52. Jewish people, and they are not and will NEVER be cut off from
  53. the love of G-d.

  55.        Those who seek to disenfranchise the Jewish 
  56. people, are ignoring G-d's promises to Israel.   Paul also wrote
  57. this warning to believers in Romans 11:18:  "Boast not against
  58. the branches. But if you boast, remember this; you do not support
  59. the root, but the root supports you."  
  60.  
  61.      The fact of G-d's promises to Israel being secure is an
  62. assurance to believers that if G-d remains faithful to Israel
  63. even when they were not faithful to Him, He also remains faithful
  64. to all believers even when we have not been so faithful.

  66.     Another issue in regards to Kingdom Now theology is the fact
  67. that Scripture refers to the nation of Israel as the bride of 
  68. G-d.  For G-d to have put Israel, the Jewish people aside would
  69. constitute divorce.  G-d hates divorce, and demonstrated His love
  70. for Israel in the Prophet Hosea who did not divorce his
  71. adulterous wife at the L-rd's command.

  73.     G-d has promised in Genesis 12 that whoever blesses Israel
  74. will be blessed, and whoever curses them will be cursed.  This
  75. promise has remained in effect for over 4000 years, and has been
  76. demonstrable in history over the past two millennia.  If the
  77. Church, which is supposed to be the salt and light on the earth
  78. turns against Israel, and incurs the wrath of G-d, how will it
  79. become of the world to whom we are to be the salt and light?  
  80. It is important at this critical time in history that G-d's
  81. people, the Church, stand with G-d's people, the Jews.
