  5. According to USA Today, the South is going to rise again.  For at this 
  6. time, all over the South, colleges and high schools are simply 
  7. thumbing their noses at a Supreme Court ruling in May that banned 
  8. prayer before football games.  The defiance is getting enthusiastic 
  9. support.  We read from October 10, 1989, "Public school officials in 
  10. the Bible belt are getting standing ovations for ignoring a Federal 
  11. ban on pre-game prayers.  `It was the first time I ever heard applause 
  12. for a prayer,' says Bill Joseph, Montgomery County Commission 
  13. Chairman.  `Telling me I can't pray at a high school game or any other 
  14. gathering is an infringement on my rights.'" Amen.

  16. Churches in Parry, Georgia "bused in two hundred people to a Houston 
  17. County Georgia Board of Education in the last month to support prayer 
  18. in school and the continuance of religious clubs on school grounds.  
  19. The Houston County Board voted to uphold the right of religious clubs 
  20. to meet at the school but prohibited the invocation of football games 
  21. this fall.  `You have a public that says to defy the courts,' says 
  22. Houston County School's Chief Harold Chapman, `then you get legal 
  23. advice that says that the board violates the courts and the board and 
  24. the individual members are liable.'

  26. "The American Civil Liberties Union is considering court action 
  27. against schools throughout the South that challenge the ban of 
  28. invocations."

  30. The ACLU says this:  "It's a very old principle that shouldn't have 
  31. taken us over two hundred years to figure out, the State is not 
  32. supposed to be involved in promoting or establishing religion."
  33.    
  34. Praying at a school gathering is not "promoting religion" or 
  35. "establishing religion." The ACLU (the American Communists Lovers' 
  36. Union) is simply denying the rights of free speech to free Americans.  
  37. No religion is promoted or established by a man praying, and it 
  38. shouldn't take anybody two hundred years to learn that.  As a matter 
  39. of fact, it shouldn't have taken those dumb blockheads in the ACLU 
  40. twenty minutes to learn that.  Anybody could have learned that by 
  41. reading a dictionary.
