  21.      Washington, London, Paris, Brussels, Bonn, Moscow, Copenhagen, Stockholm,
  22. Oslo. Some 125 Icelandic Consulates around the world also issue travel
  23. documents when required. Citizens of all West European countries, some Eastern
  24. ones and of North America are exempt from visas. This applies to a number of
  25. Latin American, Asian and African countries as well. Citizens of the Federal
  26. Republic of Germany only need an identification card, and citizens of all the
  27. Nordic countries need no travel documents.

  29. Documents for Motorists

  31.      A nonresident bringing a private motor vehicle into Iceland must present
  32. the vehicle's registration book, an international motor insurance card and an
  33. international driving license. A customs permit for motor vehicles is limited
  34. to the traveller's estimated stay in Iceland, at the end of which the vehicle
  35. must be re-exported. This permit is automatically cancelled if the traveller
  36. accepts paid employment in Iceland.

  40.      For health and other reasons the following items may not be brought into
  41. Iceland unless special import requirements have been met: 1) Live animals and
  42. birds. 2) Uncooked meat and meat products. 3) Eggs and other poultry products.
  43. 4) Butter. 5) Medicines, except small amounts for personal use. 6) Narcotics
  44. and poisons. 7) Firearms and ammunition. It is prohibited to use fishing
  45. equipment, including waders and rubber boots, which has been used while
  46. angling abroad, unless such equipment has been disinfected according to valid
  47. rules.

  51.      A nonresident may bring into Iceland free of duty all wearing apparel,
  52. ordinary travel equipment and personal articles owned by him and in his
  53. possession at the time of arrival, if the items are appropriate and intended
  54. for his own use and not for sale. They must be taken out of Iceland on the
  55. traveller's departure. Small gifts, deemed by customs officers to be
  56. appropriate and of low value, are also dutyfree. Travellers 20 years or older
  57. may bring free of duty one bottle (1 liter) of spirits not exceeding 47 vol.%
  58. and one bottle (1 liter) of wine not exceeding 21 vol. %.
